I'm thinking of taking the Amtrak from Birmingham to New Orleans on Saturday (arrive around 7PM), going to see The Devil Makes Three play at House of Blues, then taking Amtrak back in the morning around 7AM.

There should be bars and whatnot open all night this Saturday with Mardi Gras happening, yes?

It's New Orleans, there are bars and whatnot open all night all the time just because they can be.

How long does the train take, and how much does it cost? Parking and the interstate should be a mess this weekend, so a train ride might not be a bad idea.

Incidentally, whatnot would be a great name for a bar.

I rode it from Bham to Nola for the Sugar Bowl. Ran about 1.5 hr behind, but you can booze the whole way so it was all good. I enjoyed it

And the ride home allowed for ample sleepy time

Is this guy for real? What kinda question is this?

Like he's from another country visiting for the first time.

Get a private berth. It keeps you away from the poors.

I've been to NO once, back in October 2015. I was mostly on Bourbon Street but basically everything was closed up by 3AM. And seemed very dangerous all closed up....

It wasn't the 24hr drinking fest I was hoping to find!

On off weekends, the party moves off bourbon at around 3am.. You could probably find people at Goldmine (a block off bourbon) or F&Ms (a decent cab ride away).

** this wont be much of a problem this weekend... at all.

Absoulutely. Bars are open all night anyway but will be extremely packed this weekend all night ever night.
