They also posted one town in each state. NOVA would have more for sure plus as you pointed out the 25k population limit hurt places like McLean, VA.

Im surprised more Virginia towns aren't in the top 10.

The survey was only for towns with population < 25,000.

Edit: Never mind, I see someone already pointed this out.

Is this per household?

quote:

Scarsdale, New York Median Income: $241,453

If so this is not a lot. We are well above this and we do not consider ourselves rich by any means.

Now this is a motherfricking OT post

ETA: Lets assume 300k since you are "well above 241k. That is roughly $14,500 take home after taxes, 401k, and insurance. If you dont feel rich bringing home $14,500 a month, you are a dickhead

Let me explain things to you. The more money you make the more your expenses increase. Expensive morage, property tax, matainence, etc etc. After everything is paid for that month it really is not a ton of money just sitting there to spend on whatever. Sure, you have nice things but it feels almost the same as when we did not make near the money we do now. I don't care how money you make, you can always use a little more. Being a billionaire is the exception.

There are several similar places around the country. Highland Park in Dallas is one.

True and I'll add Preston Hollow is the "elite" in Dallas.

As a CPA, this is the stupidest thing people say. It makes me want to vomit. I now know why you don't feel rich with over 250k a year

Making more money never screws you further

Do you know anything at all about taxes or managing money?

You would be surprised how often clients ask me if they should decline a raise so they don't jump tax brackets

Sorry, I forgot about the 9 condos in the historic 100 year old building that is directly across the street from Belle Meade Country Club that are each valued at $400/SF.

What is misleading is the cost of living in these places. The taxes alone are crazy high.
In Virginia alone you pay yearly property taxes on your cars...in addition to inspections and registration!
Plus most of these places are taxed for public schools and the people send their kids to private schools.

I don't think I would be surprised, I know a lot of people that don't know how it works. But I would think that this guy having allegedly been through almost every bracket would have it figured out by now.
