Americans used to be much, much drunker

The average American age 15 or over drank the equivalent of about 7 gallons of pure alcohol every year ( source). That's slightly over 3 pints of Bud every single day. Of course, that's just an average. There were teetotalers, which meant most were just barely functional alcoholics.
The average Russian in 2015 drank only about 4 gallons annually ( source).
So I conclude that the average American back then could drink even a modern Russian under the table, then go out to fight the British. And win.
It also means that Prohibition actually did work, which is why Putin pushes us around now. Let's make America great again!

Glad things have changed. Weak pussies need to alter their reality through artificial means. A real American pours him or herself a cup of suck it the frick up and makes it through life without being a bitch.

That was due to polluted water. In order for our founding fathers to get clean water, beer was they answer.
