Watching this on the Escape channel. What a pos. Very educating show for this Georgia boy living in RI.

Totally took advantage of NO when the city was going through an absolutely crazy natural disaster. Unbelievable corruption.

Really thought he was going to change things when he came in.

Shut down city hall because he went through and cleaned out so many workers because of skeletons.

Sad turn of events.

He set up a deal with Home Depot and some security camera company to line his own pockets while New Orleans was struggling for it's life.

It was worth watching. Gave a good background of how he came into office as a change agent (as mentioned by a poster above) and then became corrupt and personally profited from the aftermaths of the storm.

I sat next to Ray and Don King on a flight out of Nola a few weeks after Katrina. I was too young to get involved in any political conversation but old enough to understand he was a scumbag

This is my neighbor who is still in a lawsuit about the security camera deal and Greg Meffert.

It comes on CNBC at ten here tonight. I've seen it a couple of times but anyone working after Katrina down there knew about the granite and the Home Depot deal. Nagin didn't even try to hide it.

Where you at in RI? I used to work in Newport. The commute to/from Boston was a nightmare.

They talked about Meffert, he was the Chief Technology Officer for the city apparently. The one the security camera deal ran through.

Providence. Close to Providence Place. I don't have to commute to Boston frequently, when I do I usually opt for the train versus parking in the city.

He is a quintessential New Orleans politician, entitled and corrupt.

And apparently that was his battle cry to secure the black vote and then sit on his arse instead of doing his job.

Nagin was a political outsider to a large degree when he ran for Mayor. He had been the local head of Cox Cable in NOLA and had come up inside their corporate structure which felt like an improvement over (certainly at least) his two mayoral predecessors.

My personal opinion is that the magnitude of Katrina overwhelmed him. Maybe he felt some personal responsibility for the deaths and suffering, that's not too far-fetched to imagine. Anyway, he became unhinged and eventually resorted the chicanery that got him sent up.

Additionally, there was some pettiness he engaged in as to his personal residence's lawn service when he was mayor, which was stupid on his part to do and expose himself to public scrutiny over a couple of thousand dollars of value per year.

He was an amateur political crook in a city and a state known for professional grade political crooks.

I just watched it too.
This is the way I think the federal government is as well. So sad that people are so low and greedy.

Watch the one about Kwame Kilpatrick. Same abuse of power!

Well, it is a nice and convenient Home Depot. I got to give him that.
