I posted this on movie board but figured OT has enough Prince fans to want to know about this.

The AMC theater locations they picked in Phoenix are horrible.

What the frick is this fuss about prince for?

It's really weird. When Whitney Houston died there wasn't this amount of hubbub or tribute. Why all this for someone no one seemed to give a shite about at the time?

I would say Prince is a much bigger musical icon/influence than Whitney.

Guess AMC sees a way to make some $$$. You didn't see them replaying Labyrinth in theaters after Bowie died(although that would have been AWESOME!!!)

Black lives didn't matter then as much as they do now.

When Sting dies I'm expecting Dune to be back in theaters.

Guess I am too young, I know nothing other than he was a musician, don't think I could name a single one of his songs, and had no idea "purple rain" was a movie.

Tonight we're gonna party in the purple rain like it's 1999.

I wish...gotta work instead

I would actually go see this in a theater...if it was playing closer. All the theaters in the Phoenix metro area playing this on a day I could actually go(Monday or Tuesday)...are like 30-40 minutes from me.

This. AMC doesn't care about saluting Prince, they just want to make some $$$.

I can see that. I hadn't thought of him in a decade or so.
