Acceptable Behavior in High School Today vs 20 Years Ago

After looking at this video, if most of these behaviors are considered terribly wrong, my HS years were some mad max type shite. I graduated in 1997 and there is an obvious culture change. Don't get me wrong, the teacher that made his kids eat cum covered cookies is a little extreme, but taping a kids mouth for talking?

Going to high school with a shotgun or rifle in my truck. It was completely normal just 12 years ago. It would likely get me expelled now.

Same here. It was like that 10 years ago for me.

My son found that out about 2 years ago.

we weren't allowed to wear shorts.
Or t-shirts with anything printed on them.
we had teachers teach bible verses in school
i had a teacher use "n*****r" in class, she got in serious trouble for it.
we weren't allowed to have candy at school in elementary school and jr high.
this was texass in the late 80s.

Take away the paddle and add the smart phone and you get these shite bird kids we have today. They are completely unaware of anything around them and many have limited social skills.
Far too few of them respect their elders.

I was in high school around that time and it wasn't allowed back then. It was immediate expulsion at our school. Go back 17 years before Columbine then yeah it was normal.

what in the actual frick?
Did he not realize some kids have peanut allergies? What if one of the kids had a reaction? And were these cookies nutritionally balanced?

I just had the same reaction

Did anybody actually watch that retarded link? They quote one story and the source is a Reddit user who said he was so good at math that his teacher hit him with a belt. This is worse than posting an onion article.

When I was in middle school, we had an assistant principal who walked around school with a purple paddle he called "purple reign". If a kid was acting up the teacher would say "you want to play with purple reign" and most of the time that would stop them from acting up. If it didn't, they would get sent to his office and come back not acting up. Im not trying to sound like an old dude, but that was normal.
It use to scare the kids that had classrooms by his office because evidently they could hear him whip a kid then hear kid cry so those classrooms were prime real estate for teachers.

I don't mind being called the old guy.
Frick up at school - paddled at school, followed by phone call to parents (not for permission) then whipping at home for fricking up at school and making the principle call the parent.
Lots to think about before fricking up at school back then

Lets not leave out the whole story playa. The kid was not a good student, evidently had a learning disability so when the kid scored perfect on a math test the teacher thought the kid could have cheated. Put the kid in a situation where he had to take the test without being able to cheat & when the kid made the same score the teacher hit the kid with a belt out of frustration. The last part is crossing the line, but I could see why the teacher thought the kid was cheating.

I went to a small private school in NELA and it was not acceptable when I graduated 7 years ago (dammit I am getting old ). We all did it but we had to throw a coat over it and/or put it under the seat. If the principle saw it we were in big trouble.
Most of the stuff in that video would have not have flown at my school though and probably shouldn't fly at any school in any era.
