Is there a special place in hell for people who just tie their pets to road signs and abandon them? Photo is from Baker, La. I evacuated for Katrina, but there was no F'ing way I would have ever left my dogs.

I guess you think it's more important to save animals than people?

You realize many of the shelters don't take pets? Because they can't and don't have the resources?

You realize that the national guard wasn't taking pets when evacuating people?

Don't act like people don't care about their pets, but this was a completely catastrophic experience that took almost everyone by surprise. Sometimes you have to make tough decisions.

Too many people treat pets as disposable.

People are terrible and there's no excuse it. It's not that damn hard to keep up with a pet.

So chain them up to a sign?

I', sure the National Guard got that dog to that sign and tied it up to the sign.

At least don't tie it up and let it run free to survive for itself.

People are stupid. Although it looks like they left them food.

It's an emergency situation and it's just a dog. Do what you can but keep your priorities in fricking line.

I would rank pets(dogs, cats, etc) much higher than the majority of people I encounter. Pets are much better beings than most people.

Thinking the dog shouldn't be treated like a piece of trash does not mean valuing it above human life.

That's a pretty shitty strawman.

If you adopt a dog, you should treat it as a member of the family, not leave it to die. It's not hard to pack the dog in the car with you while leaving.

I love animals. Many are delicious.

And I don't disagree that some people are worth less than some animals.

But that doesn't mean that everyone that had to leave pets behind in a damn catastrophic flood that came from virtually nowhere is some sort of evil person.

Just let them free and leave some food and hope they make it if you can't get them out
