The Saudi woman was going out for breakfast when she decided to make a statement. Violating the country’s moral codes, she reportedly stepped out in public wearing a multicolored dress, a black jacket and ankle boots — without a hijab or abaya, a loosefitting garment. Late last month, she tweeted a photo of her outfit, and the post circulated through Saudi Arabia, drawing death threats and demands to imprison or even execute the woman. On Monday, police in the country’s capital of Riyadh said they had arrested the woman, following their duty to monitor “violations of general morals,” a spokesman, Fawaz al-Maiman, said, AFP reported. The woman, who is in her 20s, was imprisoned after posting the tweet of herself standing next to a popular Riyadh cafe, he said.

SA has some of the worst human rights issues in the world. But they are cool because they sell us oil.

Or rather, when we tell them to jump, they ask, "how high?"
Surprisingly little of our oil comes from the Saudis.

There aren't very many easy answer to dealing with dictatorships and monarchies which retain power through force. If you remove a Saddam or a Gaddafi then the resulting chaos is even worse.

The people who jailed this woman are the very people who love Hillary Clinton and gave her campaign millions of dollars. But yeah Putin is bad.

Soon this country will 100% own the largest refinery in the US. They will also start buying other assets as well under the Motiva name

She appears to be an attractive woman (obviously), but this should be a reminder of just how good we have it in this great country of our. Be grateful we have separation of church and state.
Just think if Mia Khalifa ever goes back to Beirut?

You post a comment about Clinton but post pictures of President Bush.

Lebanon is pretty damn liberal for Levantine standards. You can get shithoused there, try doing that in more Arabic countries.

Just in case you want to know what the local clergy may have in mind for her LINK:
quote:
It was just a few seconds, a video clip of several young women laughing and clapping to music, dressed for a party or a wedding in orange headscarves and robes with floral patterns. Then a few more seconds of a young man dancing alone, apparently in the same room.
According to court filings and interviews with people who investigated it, the families confined the girls for weeks, threw boiling water and hot coals on them, then killed them and buried them somewhere in the Kohistan hills
The head of the local jirga, a Muslim cleric, allegedly issued a religious decree ordering the five girls to be killed for dishonoring their tribe, along with the boy seen dancing and every member of his family. There was no resistance from the community. After the girls were disposed of, several brothers of the boy were also caught and killed.

Yeah, the Saudi's have been pretty involved with power players on both sides of the American political aisle.
There's no universally good approach to dealing with other countries with fundamentally different values. People who excuse violence in the name of accepting multiculturalism should think better of it, but even they aren't creating the reality, they are just denying parts of the reality.
