A guide for men online dating – from a female perspective

I have been online dating locally and out of state over the years and have seen it all. Simply put, so many men need help with their profile. I have come out of long-time lurking mode to help. I have read the threads and know that the vast majority of you don’t know what do.

Photo strategy basics
- One selfie is fine. All selfies? No. This is not 2013 anymore. Show that you have friends and a life.
- We do not want to see a shirtless photo. It makes you seem trashy. Also gym selfies are trashy.
-Smile and show that you have teeth in atleast one picture. If you smile in all photos with your mouth closed, we will assume you have bad teeth.
-Show your face. And full body shot so we can see how tall you are. Have one pic of just you. Having the same friends in every shot does not help us out with which one you are.
-Finally, please show us that you know how to do more than hunt and/or fish. Show that you are cultured and have other interests. We literally do not care about that fish or deer you’re holding up.
-Do not use old pics aka catfishing. It has happened to me and other ppl I know, and it’s awkward.

Appearance
-Chain necklaces…why? No. Leave the jewelry to the ladies. No woman wants a chain grazing across her chest when things get steamy, and when she sees this in your pic, that’s all she can picture.
-Beards. Not sure why guys are obsessed with these lately? Obviously not a major turnoff, some women love this. But honestly, it scrapes our face after making out and it’s just not good.

Clothing.
OMG. I cannot stress this enough! Vast majority of you want to show off every fishing shirt/camo/LSU shirt you own. Please show a woman you can dress nice on occasion. Though if you really don’t, then at least you’re being honest.
-Cargo shorts are a no. Plaid shorts are a no. Mom jeans are a no.

Bio
-Put something. Anything. Having an empty profile says you literally don’t care at all.
-If you are “looking for fun,” put that. If you are looking for more than a good time, put that. This clears up a lot from the get-go and women want to know what you are looking for.
-Kids in pics. This should be obvious by now, if they aren’t yours, say so. If they are, claim them.If you have kids but dont want them in your pics, that's fine. But admit in your bio that you are a parent. Nothing worse than someone who looks childless and then on the date, he says “yeah so I have 3 kids.” Like..ummm..ok thanks for keeping that secret.

Bumble
-If a woman messages you, message her back or delete her. DO NOT play the game where you message for weeks and then nothing comes of it. No one wants a pen pal.

Match
-Men need to grow a pair and show initiative. Just as men approach women in public, men should be approaching women on this platform.

This probably came across as bitchy, but the truth hurts and should help. And, no. No pics. Cheers
