With cgi as good as it is, why?

Seems like a waste of money to build the set, pay a trainer, but a dog etc

This movie is done. Promoters pulling their support, massive backlash. Wtf were these people thinking? Hard to feel sorry for them.

That is what my dog's look like when they are about to get a bath.

The dog clearly was scared to go into the rough water, but unfortunately there are WAYY worse things done to dogs.

Hell, a dog fighting ring was just busted in SW Alabama the other day.

hope the owner is happy with the $500 bucks he earned by scaring the shite out of his dog.

Normally I'd say dogs overreact sometimes and it's no big deal to nudge them, but at the end he was proven correct for not wanting to get in there. Poor guy nearly drowned.

A dog doesn't want to take a bath? That's horrible. That poor dog is wet! frickers deserve a lesson.

Shirley you're not comparing a bathroom tub to a turbulent pool

“While we continue to review the circumstances shown in the edited footage, Amblin is confident that great care and concern was shown for the German Shepherd Hercules, as well as for all of the other dogs featured throughout the production of the film,” it continued. “There were several days of rehearsal of the water scenes to ensure Hercules was comfortable with all of the stunts. On the day of the shoot, Hercules did not want to perform the stunt portrayed on the tape so the Amblin production team did not proceed with filming that shot.”

Wow! So they think because they did not actually "film" him that day being thrown in that it makes it any less of a deal. With that being said, I am sure the dog is fine. But I do hope they catch shite.

It's a fricking dog. You give him a bully stick, and he forgets about it in 30 seconds. It was one scene. People are ridiculous. My dog has the same reaction every time I try to clip his nails or give him a bath or accidentally kick the trashcan.

Because these 3 things are the equivalent to what's in the video. You make a habit of forcing your dog into turbulent water and nearly drowning him for your entertainment?

I'm a pretty solid dog guy and I completely agree.

Dog thought the water would be freezing arse cold and shite. He wasn't harmed. No biggie. I find it comical that if the trainer shoved a human into that water people wouldn't give two shits.

ETA: The shite at the end is just a terrible setup that sucked him under. That is a separate incident from the dog being put in the water when he didn't want to go.

At the end of the day, I'm sure the dog is fine, but traumatizing the thing to get a shot is pretty trashy

The trauma would be because of the end of the video and the way the water was being cycled. The dog isn't traumatized because he was put in the water against his wishes.

I'm a pretty huge dog guy. While I don't think that's the same as the donkey in Patton, that's still pretty fricked up by today's standards. Can't believe they didn't have a better way to do that scene.
