LAWRENCEVILLE, GA (CBS46) -
It turned out to be the pee wee football player's first touchdown and the first fine for the 8-year-old.

The Lawrenceville Black Knights were beating another team, 32-0, in the fourth quarter. No. 2 intercepted a pass and in the excitement of the moment forgot about the leagues mercy rule.

That touchdown passed the 33-point rule and cost the coach a week long suspension and the team $500.

Pussification.

So the eight year old was supposed to just intercept the ball and kneel?
How do you tell a kid not to do the right thing in sports?

What's next fining little leaugers for homeruns?

The owner will just pay it. I'd be more worried about sponsors backing out after this disgusting display of sportsmanship.

Just stop fricking keeping score or tell the kids sorry but the game is over. Why continue the game if one team is not allowed to score.

There's absolutely no excuse for allowing your kid to play in a league that teaches fairness in athletics in such a manner.

When I was a young buck playin ball, if we got our asses spank, we were humbled and forced to run or some other punishment. One should never force mediocrity on a child. Just disgusting IMO

We've reached the end of common sense.

According to the policy. A kid who plays defense, and rarely gets to touch the ball, needs to know that if he gets his hands on it he needs to take a knee because the team is approaching their allotted point limit.

Mother. fricking. Ridiculous.

We lost a game 50-0 a few weeks ago.

Sure it sucked, but we won the following week.

Why wouldn't they just call the game at that point?

Burdett said running up the score was not intentional. On the next play they even tried to let the other team score but Burdett said they refused to catch the ball.

reminds me of "the losing edge" maybe the winning team wasn't in on it.

If my team ever got down by 32 I would tell my QB to run and kneel in our own end zone so there would be a safety and the other coach would have to pay $500!

What if the team were backed up against their own endzone, and the snap goes out the back of the endzone for a safety, putting them over the 33 points?
