Good for them

quote:

"I'd say two minutes before we were about to walk out ... the organization told me that I could not wear my shirt while singing the national anthem at their game," the R&B singer told the Associated Press. "I was never given any kind of dress code. I was never asked beforehand to show my wardrobe."
quote:

This came one day after the NBA unveiled a “Together” campaign, promoting unity in the wake of the recent protests during the national anthem started by 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.
quote:

The 76ers said in a statement to USA TODAY Sports:

"The Philadelphia 76ers organization encourages meaningful actions to drive social change. We use our games to bring people together, to build trust and to strengthen our communities. As we move from symbolic gestures to action, we will continue to leverage our platform to positively impact our community.”

Good for the Sixers. This wasn't about her cause, this was about trying to get national attention on opening night of an NBA game for her career.

Considering the tension created when the last singer wore a black lives matter shirt and kneeled at mid-court I can understand their hesitance. It's a business, tension/controversy either sells or it fails. They felt that the backlash from getting a new singer was the lesser of two evils in terms of "bad press", their business, their decision.

Yes indeed. NBA just gained a fan after the NFL lost one. Havent watched an NFL game all season. 76ers win one in my book.

She's already known in the R&B world. She has an infamous song from 2013 "It won't stop",
