From what one hears lately about the streets of San Francisco, that might not be such a pleasurable experience.

A rural place an hour from a bunch of jerk offs seems amazing. Bonus points if I can't see, smell, or hear my neighbors.

much would it be to SF hotel for an extended time? Surely they could cut you a deal.

Like 300 a night at something half decent like the Sheraton around fisherman's warf. It was nothing special at all. Also 50/night to park. I'd live in SF in a heartbeat but even with both my wife and I making around 6 figures out there it would be hard to raise our two kids without a ton of sacrifices. But when I was jogging from fisherman's warf to the Golden gate I could easily see the appeal, beautiful place.

Unsustainable. There has to be a ceiling at some point.

If the tech biz crashes. If it doesn't, they would need some high rises with many new units to drive the price down. Everyone wants to live in SF and it's not a big place at all.

It's geographically limited which is why property is so expensive. They must have some limit on building height, seems the answer would be high rise condos and more density.

Earthquake restrictions and infrastructure also cause problems with high density housing. Housing here is incredible difficult to obtain. You can't buy a home on a mortgage because of cash investors and people even over bid on apartments at open houses. I am extremely fortunate to have my place. 600 square feet and I pay 1530. I am 1K under the current market rate.

That's not bad. Hang on to that one. That's what I paid here for a similar size place last year but it was waterfront.

We are one block from the beach and in a very safe area. We have been here for 5 years which is the only reason it is this affordable. At some point I expect a huge rent increase but until that happens....we are stuck here.

People are leaving NJ and moving to San Fran due to taxes. A million dollar home in San Fran is about 10 grand in taxes. We pay 10 grand in NJ for a house we paid 475k for.
And in hoboken we were paying 11k for our condo

1 mil is at minimum 15K in property taxes but still ridiculous. I would guess the pay here is much higher as well.

The article I tea said 10 grand on a million dollar place but maybe it differs by location.
My niece lives in San Fran and she won't move from her apartment because her rent will more than double
