Get out of the fricking street, dummy.

You don't see WBRZ people pulling that Mickey Mouse shite.

The fact that they are journalists is irrelevant. If they were obstructing the highway, i.e. breaking the law, should they be treated like everyone else or not?

They didn't resist, were treated fairly and released.
I'd say that's paints a pretty accurate picture.

Slaughter reported to station management that he put one foot onto the highway to get a better angle, while his other foot remained on the curb. At that time, he says, several police officers ran across the highway and arrested him.
Throughout the event, police had repeatedly warned people to stay off the highway.
rules are rules...he chose to break the rule and got arrested because of it.

the WAFB assistant news director was bumped off the sidewalk during 1 of the poach rushes
seems he did everything right and just got a little unlucky
ETA: this is what I was going from... from the Advocate

Slaughter appeared to be bumped from the sidewalk where he'd been standing -- along with a number of other television journalists -- after a line of officers in riot gear charged into the crowd. Slaughter, who was wearing a WAFB shirt and media credentials, was immediately grabbed by officers and led away. He did not appear to resist or argue.

Yup. Was watching when it happened. Unlucky but the cops are doing their job and enforcing it equally to everyone

The press doesn't get the luxury of ignoring police commands

I wish more of these cities had the sack to start arresting these idiots for blocking streets without a permit.

Wasn't shot.
Perhaps a significant teaching moment for some.

I approve as long as Nakamoto wasn't one of them.
