re: 3 Businesses that you have no idea how they're still in business.

I like Compass and bought furniture there but Ashley right down the street looks like it does way more business. Compass is a huge store in an out of the way place that always looks empty.

Mattress Direct on Magazine. No one is ever in there, and they probably pay 4 grand a month rent.

Many shops in uptown or the FQ I'm baffled they stay open given how little traffic they receive relative to how much rent they pay.

The Red Lobster in the Lakeside Mall parking lot in Metairie. Drago's and Acme Oyster house are literally within walking distance, and Bucktown and the lakefront are less than 2 miles away. The fact that that place is still open blows my mind. :nb4cheesybiscuits:

That Red Lobster actually always looks busy. Mindblowing.

When I think of places like this, my mind always drifts to...

- Tax Evasion
- Bored Housewife with lots of money in the bank or husband's income to support this hobby
- Money Laundering

any random stuckeys

tourist shops that only sell phone cases. Just got back from Gatlinburg area. These shops were everywhere, and expensive as hell. Otterboxes were $64 for my DNA. Those things are on amazon for $23.

Huddle House. Waffle House's uglier, dumber cousin.

I don't get why people say hardware stores. Did the demand for tools go away?

Not a thing. Just don't know how they are in business. I've never seen one actually selling the pecan candies that made them famous.

I get a pecan log and some divinity everytime

I've had friends that drive over from Texas who stop and get me one, they know my fascination with the place. Kinda weird but I'm old

Why is this place getting mentioned so much? They have to have the lowest overhead of any fast food type restaurant. Chicken fingers, fries, bread, slaw...that's it. Forget that you might not like it, that's a pretty good business model, IMO.

My friend asked the bartender what the cost of some kind of expensive shot was, and he in turn asked my friends yearly income was. He implied that she couldn't afford it. Total prick. Little did the guy know that my friend could have bought the entire bar by writing a check right then and there. Needless to say, we weren't overly generous with our tips

As a former bar manager I can honestly say I would have sent that guy home immediately if I heard him do that. It crushes business when a barkeep talks out his ass.
