The Calgary Hitmen endured a 40-minute delay on Sunday as fans donated over 28,000 teddy bears by throwing them on the ice.

The Teddy Bear Toss is an annual tradition for the Hitmen (and many other junior teams), now in its 21st year. Since its inception in 1995, the promotion has collected nearly 300,000 teddy bears.

One day, if aliens ever come and invade this world, they are going to see things like this and just let out a collective WTF.

This is awesome, and humans are bizarre creatures.

You know the kid that ends up with that bear will be excited. What kid wouldn't want a free giant teddy bear? Assuming it wasn't some really cheap one (like the ones given as prizes at state fair games).

SU should do the same at one of their football games, but with guns, not teddy bears.
