I didn't know people still wore it until I saw a thread about it here.

I don't know. It's odd. I've also noticed that there is a "Murica! I don't gotta wear no tie" vibe about the I hate cologne people.

I think people who scream "MURICA!" and believe in wearing ties are rednecks? I also would think rednecks would love some cologne/Axe.

If I walked into a room with a group of female friends and was wearing cologne they would all ask me what the hell I sprayed on myself

I would bet there is still a bottle of Clinique Happy for Men in my bathroom at my mom's house. I think 3 middle school girlfriends gave me that as a gift.

I used to spray in the air and run through the mist

this is completely backwards IMO

the cologne wearers are always the rednecks with bedazzled jeans in my experience

I shave about twice a week, and after that I'll use a good quality aftershave like this:

Cologne, only if the wife and I are going out, and then I use a scent that's almost not there. I hate the dudes that bath in that shite.

Yes.

Yes. I work at a law firm in mid-town Manhattan.

Sounds SJW-like.

Sadly, the women don't follow this. Their perfume gives me a headache in meetings.

I get that. My go-to is Aqua di Parma. It's been around since 1919. A lot of the movie stars in the 30s used to wear it. It is a subtle scent and not at all like the artificial strong scents that are big now. I use one light spray in the morning.

almost daily...half a spray of Ed Hardy when I get out the shower. A bottle seems to last almost exactly a year. It is probably pointless though. One would have to be very close to even notice it.

Must be a regional thing . . . although the guido population is pretty big on the stuff.

No doubt. If I sprayed cologne on me, my wife would probably ask me to shower

Yep.

Guidos and rednecks are big into the cologne.

What?

Its common courtesy to not have strong scented cologne or perfume in an office setting. Not really SJW-like. I think it was mainly for the women and their perfume or the Indian software developers that don't shower and try to mask their odor with 35 sprays of Drakkar Noir

None of you dumbasses know how to wear cologne properly.

You don't lather it on your clothes. Put a small amount on your neck after you shave, just enough so that people in your very personal space can smell it. It shouldn't be something that people passing on the other side of the room can smell, but only people who are very close.

I have applied it like that for years, and on a fairly regular basis when someone has to lean in for whatever reason I get "you smell really nice!"

It's a nice private touch if you apply it properly and don't overdo it.

This. I guess all of the "it's rude" and "we have a no scent policy" talk is a reaction to people bathing in the stuff.
