1.5 mile run

I've been training to complete a 1.5 mile run and I have noticed that in the last couple weeks that my shins and calf muscles hurt real bad. Just recently I feel like my knees and ankles hurt as well. I'm frustrated because I can run the mile and don't feel out of breath or hurting anywhere else.
Anyone have the same issues? Is this normal and with time go away?

Shin splints typically come from tight calves. So stretch stretch stretch the calves.
And a lot of time knee pain ACTUALLY comes from hip weakness ... PT tested me and I was SHOCKED at the lack of hip strength. Side lying leg raises and clamshells 3 sets of 10 and after just a couple of weeks there was marked improvement.
And when you stretch the calves, you need to stretch the soleus AND gastroc muscles ... yes, google for the stretches. Basically knee bent AND knee straight .. 2 different positions for the stretch.

Need more details, how often are you running, how far are you running, do you think your weight may be putting extra burden on these muscles. Are you stretching thereafter?
Shin splints are pretty much a given if you run a lot but do not do toe raise etc stretches afterwards.

It's a mile and a half guy. I think you will be ok.

In addition to the stretches a few posters mentioned, drop some money on compression sleeves for the lower leg, as well as kinesiology tape. You can watch a 3 minute video on youtube and learn how to tape your legs to relieve shin splints. Just make sure you know whether they are posterior (inside part of your shin) or anterior (outside part of your shin) that is giving you trouble. You have to tape in different spots for each.

Don't forget the 1.5 sticker for your car when you finish.

I love it when I see a big ole farmboy in an F250 with a 00.0 sticker of the truck.

Yes. Its probably your shoes. Go somewhere that can match your foot to the correct style of running shoe.
Also, you can try lengthening your stride. You might be taking too short of a stride and basically putting all the work into propelling yourself into your lower legs.
