Restaurants are usually exempt from minimum wage laws.
Perhaps that should be addressed. At one time a fair tip was 10%, then 15%, and now 18%, who comes up with the notion of what a fair tip is?
If I am with a demanding party then I have no problem with leaving a generous tip. However, I have a problem with the idea that I sit down with my family and order a meal. We eat the meal without any extra service, no asking for anything, and no refills on drinks and now I am expected to pay $15.00 for 2 minutes of work. I do it because I feel the pressure of not being an ass, but it bothers me. We are going to Disney World next year and you are charged 18% gratuity on parties of six or more at buffets and are expected to tip at that rate if your party is five or less which is BS in my mind especially when you consider the inflated prices there and the fact you get you own f'ing food.
