An all-terrain vehicle driver was killed and a dirt-bike rider was in critical condition Monday night (June 12) following a New Orleans East crash that also involved another dirt bike and a car, according to New Orleans police.

The crash occurred about 8:29 p.m. at the intersection of Chef Menteur Highway and Majestic Oaks Drive, police said.

A Pontiac Grand Prix, traveling eastbound on Chef Menteur Highway, was turning left onto Majestic Oaks Drive when the car was hit by the four-wheeler and dirt bikes, which were traveling westbound on Chef Menteur at high speed, according to the NOPD. Neither the ATV nor the dirt bikes had their headlights on, police said. 

The four-wheeler driver was ejected from the ATV and pronounced dead on the scene. 

One dirt-bike rider was taken to a hospital by ambulance and was listed in critical condition Monday night, police said.
