There were a lot to choose from but this play was inexcusable. There were 7 or 8 second left at the snap, and 3 seconds left at the end of the play. In that situation a with Minn already inside the 5 yard line a DB should never get beat for a TD, just tackle the receiver, take the holding call and most likely they kick the FG.

Of course Harris interferes and still lets Diggs catch the ball. Harris was horrible all night, but that play is on the coaching staff as well.

I agree with the strategy of holding the wrs on that play, but diggs didnt catch that ball

By the time he had possession he was out of bounds. Vacarro'so personal foul for "hitting a defenseless receiver" was painful. No more football!

I agree its questionable whether he actually caught it, but it doesn't excuse Harris even giving him a shot to catch it in that situation.

Walking on the field impersonating a football team was the worst

I thought personally the TO after 2nd down that springboarded that drive was the worst call of the night.

We kept time on the clock for them by burning both timeouts so they could drive down the field when all they wanted to do initially was run out the clock in a 4 point game.

It was 3rd and 1...and you still have a defense that statistically has been one of the worst in the league for the last 3 years.

At least wait till you have a confirmed stop before using your timeouts. It also doesn't hurt to save one for Drew if you do get the stop.

All 3 of our personal fouls were "new football" penalties. God I hate the NFL today.

With all the times replay officials have reviewed that type of catch I was surprised it stood. What happened to 'moving the ball' 'in control' 'hand to hand' and all the other BS they always use to call a incomplete pass?

The previous Minn drive before CSP called those TOs was a 3 play drive with a TD pass to a wide open WR. Also, we had just lost our RT. I still don't understand why not try to get into the locker room and regroup instead of trying to get the ball back. There has been nothing in recent memory to suggest that he could trust HIS DEFENSE!

I think there's a new rule that prevents holding late in the half. They will put time back on the clock now

Didn't know that but found an article about the rule:

nfl-rule-prevent-team-burning-clock-repeated-intentional-penalties
quote:

The official rule states: A team may not commit multiple fouls during the same down in an attempt to manipulate the game clock. The penalty for a violation is 15 yards. The game clock will also be reset to where it had been prior to the previous snap.

I get the point, but I'm still 100% holding/tackling Diggs on that play. I think he was the only receiver running a route and I'm arguing Harris had to tackle him since based on his play he was incapable of legally defending any NFL receiver.

They call it in college too, and eject the player.

remember the Panthers did that to us 1 year... and then I think another team did it to the Broncos and that's when that rule was made

you do realize that when both of those timeouts was used MIN was inside their own 15 yard line?

get the stop and Drew has as much time possible to get roughly 25-30 yards to make it a 10-9 score at halftime

even with using those timeouts Drew would've had 40 seconds at most remaining before halftime with that stop on 3rd & 1

get the stop and not use either timeout and everyone's screaming why are we taking timeouts to the locker room and not leaving Drew any time to work with

I was fine with the first time out used on that drive...not fine with the second. They are going to run clock on one of those plays regardless. Let the clock run on 2nd and if you stop them on 3rd you stop the clock.

That was my point.

The worst call of the night and arguably the worst call I've ever seen in my life was the roughing the passer on brees

6 to one, half dozen to the other

I'm fine with the use of timeouts there... you know Payton's going to do it b/c he has Drew Brees as his QB... he's going to try to give Drew the most time possible at an end of half situation

The Minnesota penalty for roughing Drew was a piss call but the call against Vacarro was worse.

hit below the knees (with the icing on the personal foul cake of being from the blind side)

that's the rules in the NFL now... they're going to be extra protective of QBs in the pocket and defenseless receivers (see the Anzelone & Vaccaro PF penalties)

ETA: the hit on Brees penalty is the Tom Brady rule
