Will the Saints ever have their billion dollar stadium?

Eventually the superdome will have to be replaced

IMHO the only way to do it is to play in a diff stadium and tear down the new stadium and rebuild in the same spot.

Well since it is a landmark now I just don't know how you can do it.

Landmarks can be taken off lists. Someone mentioned in another thread that Soldier Field had this happen.

Do it at end of next season then have Saintsplaybin Tiger season for a year. Would have 20 months to rebuild!!!

Louisiana is a broke arse state. They couldn't afford to build a high school stadium let alone an NFL stadium.

anything preventing them from building a stadium on the north shore?

Yeah, an actual downtown worth going too lol

Yea a new stadium where the superdome is now would be awesome.... but that's likely to never happen.

You are right it is a broke State. But once this lease is up the stadium issue will have to be addressed

Eventually, yes, the Superdome will likely be replaced. Will it be a billion dollar (in today's dollars) replacement? That will depend on the future success of the NFL. Football has an uncertain future, from my perspective. It certainly doesn't have to remain the king of sports, in the U.S., especially if brain trauma worries continue to rise.
Regardless, it will be a sad day, if/when the Superdome is replaced. I love that beautiful building.

I say, wait until they return from camp at the country club and at end of the 4th game of the season when they are 0-4, start demo work on the dome at week 5. Get a jump on things and save us a little embarrassment.

I'd build it in downtown Chalmette

As a season ticketholder I can put up with less flash for a cheaper and hassle free experience. I know from going to games at other stadiums that the superdome is much easier to get in and out of than other stadiums. The new modifications make the gameday experience just as good as other stadiums. Maybe it isnt as shiny as a new stadium but I find that that takes away from the game itself. Case in point dallas where the fricking screen is so huge and bright you get a migraine and cant help but look at the screen instead of the field.

I guess they should build the new Stadium in New Orleans East.

Everything that makes New Orleans a venue worth going to and holding major events. Access to hotels, entertainment district and restaurants all in close proximity and walking distance to the stadium. New Orleans has one of the best infrastructures in the country for holding events. That is why it has been the leading host in Super Bowls and a variety of other events. Moving the stadium away from down town would be monumentally stupid.

Tear down the convention center and put it there. Put the new convention center where the dome is now.
Posted on 1/22/17 at 7:20 pm to JabarkusRussell
I doubt this will ever happen since they built a new hall that is closer to Riverwalk. The convention center is doing everything right and the location and layout has a lot to do with it's success.
It'll be more ideal to build somewhere behind the convention center, on the other side of the CCC.
I'm not sure how these landmark rules work but tearing down the dome and building a huge park, outdoor event complex would be legit. Hell they can even build a new city hall in that area to get out of that eye sore.

What about the spot next to the CCC that was proposed when they were floating the idea of a open air stadium on the river.

They have built up everything around the Dome and Arena so much that it would kill a lot of businesses there. The Dome 2.0 needs to be put up where the original sits now.
