The pic 6 in the first half was the play of the game for the browns. Why were we in an empty backfield set?? We were running the ball for big chunks! It makes no sense to not have a RB in the backfield.

When the defense sees this formation they don't have to think about the threat of running and this gives them the advantage.

Poor coaching

Why ever go 5 wide with that logic?

You don't do it right after a 10 yd run! When you have success running the ball... KEEP RUNNING THE BALL

That didn't really answer the question.

It would have been smarter to have a 4 WR set with a RB in the back to pick up the pressure on DB during that play. Obviously the ball sailed on him because of the pressure, but if you look closely at the play JG could have actually caught it had he noticed the ball was going to be placed a little higher. From watching the replay it looked like the ball went straight through his hands, so honestly it wasn't complete Drew's fault. Jimmy should have caught that. After that play JG definitely stepped it up though.

A RB can help block.

A RB in the backfield doesn't allow the D to play pass all the way.

You can still run 5 guys on a route but it made no sense to not have one back there

Didn't the pick 6 come right after Ingram ran the ball for like 10 yards? Stupid play calling man. Shite reminds me of the Patriots game last year.

That's just a perfect example of CSP trying to be cute with his play calling. If something works, stick with it, especially if it's the damn run game. Having a good run game has always been existent in teams who make the playoffs and vice versa. If you rush for over 170 yards, you're probably doing something right. The sad thing is, we could have had even more rushing yards if we balanced it out with the passing more, which in turn would have ate up the clock a lot more...

Yeah the sad irony is if you would stick with the run it would make the passing game so much easier... so much easier

Agreed you go 5 wide in hurry up or in Seattle 2010 playoff game or in SF 2011 playoff game when your RBs are all hurt.

But we have three really good running backs and hell the fullback looked great on his run. there's no reason we should have an empty backfield unless it's third and 10

Exactly. Look at the Seahawks and their success with the play action passing last season. That shite and their defense was the perfect championship formula really.
