That is a load of crap. He doesn't deserve anything but his current salary. ( and that is debateable).

He is not an idiot, he knew his contract would affect the rest of the team. If he is good enough to win despite the contract then great. If not, then deal with it.

His contact is in line with the rest of the elite QBs in the league (besides this year). This year's cap hit is on Loomis not Brees. Additionally, it's not his contact that hamstringing this team, it's the astronomical amount of dead money on the books from terrible contacts and shitty player evaluation.

Why does he deserve it and not the other 50+ guys on the roster?

His contract doesn't change coaching nor does it affect drafting. Pro and college talent evaluation are things that have nothing to do with Brees' contract (that he absolutely deserves)

The historically bad defenses three of the last four years have had nothing to do with Brees' contract and everything to do with boneheaded decisions coming from management/coaching.

The way the Saints have handled Brees is embarrassing and I wouldn't sentence my worst enemy to playing for this organization. Brees is going to be lost in history when he should absolutely go down as second to only Brady, but that's the way things happen to fall when you're saddled with a franchise that specializes in dysfunction

Because without him, the other 50+ guys are no better than the cleveland browns and thus don't get ANY meaningful recognition at all.

Man if you're that jaded than why do you even watch. It seems very stressful for you.

Drew has made 160 million from this organization and about to get more. shite, I wish someone would mistreat me like this.

The Saints have tried multiple times over the years to get him weapons and have. A shitty organization doesn't try year in and year out like the Saints do. A Shitty organization doesnt try. You can question the moves they have made and yes we've had some disasters but it damn sure was not for the lack of effort.

No, we are not New England. But shite man, we are not Cleveland.

Cleveland doesn't go out every year trying to lose, but that's what happens because they don't have a QB. They fire coaches, get new players, or whatever because they want to win. And Cleveland is in a tougher division than the Saints. The NFC South never had one overtly dominant team until the Panthers of recent years and this division has been around since 2002.

The difference between the Saints and the Browns is that one of them fell into Drew Brees and an elite QB can overcome serious organizational faults but when your franchise posts up historically bad defenses, horrible scouting, bad drafts and free agency periods the bottom will fall out eventually.

The Saints are luckier than the Browns, but I'm not sure that makes them a better organization.

From a stability standpoint it certainly does. I by no means am giving Sean a pass for the bad decisions he's made but having the same QB/GM/Coach for as long as we have had is the complete opposite of everything they are. Yea, you're right we did get lucky, but that doesn't make it any less special.

I guess I just dont believe we are all that far away. We are not losing 13 games a year. Alot of the games we lose on a yearly basis come by some bad luck.

They've done a fairly decent job turning this roster over. It's a young group of players that need some time to get it figured out. If win 4 games this year than sure, i guess i'll be panicking a little.

What does his contract have to do with our free agent and draft frick ups?

Because they're not Saints fans. They're fans of other teams which they would like to have a chance at having Brees lead to a championship.

The only reason I give two fricks about Drew Brees is because he plays for the Saints. If he ever left I would want him to lose every game.

The players mean nothing if the team isnt winning. They are just pieces.

Drew's contract screwed us big time. Forced us to part ways with Harper and Jenkins.

How so?

You realize that the same offseason we parted with Harper and Jenkins, we brought in Byrd as the higest paid safety in the league?

Bc we pissed away his chance to go down as one of the top 5 quarterbacks to every play. We had the chance in 2011 to turn this team into a dynasty and instead we let the roster fall apart. We haven't had a good offensive or defensive line since 2011. And the defenses we put on the field are absolutely embarrassing

Because he has the most wins in the franchise history?

Any ways, yes you earn what you deserve as a team. He often has not had much of a defense and not too many superstar weapons.

He played out his first contract without once bitching and was severely underpaid given the type of performances he was having.. since joining the Saints up until bounty gate in like 2012 NO OTHER TEAM or QB had more wins than Drew Brees. None... in the entire NFL.

At least he earned his pay unlike most typical 100 million qbs. At least he has even played through injuries and only missed one game.

I will never. Never understand the complaining over Brees contract when it's the going rate, when he actually earned it.

It's not Brees fault the Saints are shite in the draft and in free agency.

Omg so the Saints have a little more money to spend.. WHAT HAS THIS MANAGEMENT SHOWN YOU THAT IT WOULD MATTER WHEN THEY ALREADY SIGN GUYS NOT WORTH THE PAY?

Brees is about one of the only players who has consistently performed at a ridiculous high level.

He is still averaging top 2 in yards & completion percentage.. the past 3 or 4 seasons..

Still..

And he even played one season with an undisclosed nagging injury.

Brees is not the one you should be bitching about.

The Saints with Brees deserve better management.
