Why did Kenny Stills fall so far?

I'm just curious. I remember watching him several times at OU and he's been nothing but consistent since his freshman year. Did he have character issues or something? He ran a 4.3 at the combine, right? Had to be a reason he dropped. Injuries? Character concerns?

Stills is gonna be a steal.

Yeah, he really stood out on the field everytime I was able to catch an Okie game. I think he could definitely develop as our eventual #2 guy. He can def see the field in some 4 or 5 WR sets early though

Because its a running league and teams only draft running backs, no value on WR's or QB's

I think it was his arguably slender frame (6-0, 194). Not an imposing target if you are drafting for a #1 WR.

Rarely saw press man, but Thrillo just showed me a video where he beat Xavier Rhodes' press with his quickness. Will that translate in the pros? Point is, I could see a GM questioning his physicality, (although he was a pretty decent blocker from what I've seen, so that should have counted).

Also factor in, teams might have had other needs to address before getting a #2 WR.

I doubt his DWI after his frosh season had any effect.

I did see some lapses for easy 1st down catches that he dropped in his highlights against OSU.

But his route-running, quickness, deep speed, and fearlessness should have been unquestionable.

He got a DUI, but that obviously isn't enough along to drop him that far (Ogletree). I was wondering the same thing though. His weaknesses in his draft profiles don't seem too concerning- small frame (how many deep route runners are bulky?), average height (again, 6 foot is pretty decent for a deep guy).

The one thing I did see, is that while he makes the highlight catch, he is prone to dropping the easy ones. He is also a big of a show-boater, but I am sure Brees and Payton will keep this kid humble.

From watching some of his games, he seems like a fast Lance Moore- runs the intermediate routes well, not afraid to make a catch over the middle, catches away from his body well, etc...

This would be it for me.

He seems to absolutely hate contact.

It's hard to find a play in his highlight reel where he even thinks about getting yards after catching the ball.

I don't mind this, we don't really have a guy like that in our team. Only one close is Moore with his end zone dances

Very true.

However according to him, it was due in part to the offensive scheme in order to accelerate the no-huddle: 5:42 mark

But he does admit, RAC & the press are things he has to work on

6-0, very little YAC. I read several former scouts blurbs about how he couldve stood another year in college. Still, steal IMO.

I would add that he is a combo of Moore & Meachem.

Not only did he do the things at OU that you aptly described Lance-like, but he has the deep route and quick double-move separation like Meachem gave the Saints.

RAC, press-man, and mental focus on easy catches are what he needs to focus on in training camp.

As someone said rookie WR's don't measure up too well under CSP. I think if Meach had been anything but a 1st rounder he might not have made the team early on.
I hope Stills goes the way of Colston.

Honestly I didn't watch many OU games, just going off of what I saw from his highlight videos. I didn't see too many plays where he was beating a CB on a deep route (except the one he juked Xavier Rhodes out of his cleats). I noticed mostly quick slants, hitches, and a lot of finding the holes and sitting in a zone. He certainly posses the speed, and hands to be a deep threat; just from the vidoes I've seen, doesn't look like OU used him that way too much.

Just to clarify, I do really like the pick.

Yeah, barring injury, there's too much experience for him to start. Even Joe Morgan has two years in the playbook/practices on him.

But I do think his versatilty at OU by playing both the slot & outside could help him become active contributor on game-days. (Toon, Tanner, Givens, etc are one-spot backups to me.)

If he "Colston's" us and starts, it'd be a nice bonus.

I'm so excited we got this kid...I'm going to make a bold prediction...Kenny Stills is the next Reggie Wayne.

There, I said it.

This is the video I watched: LINK

It's a long video (12 mins) but there are a lot of 20-40+ yard deep routes they attempted, despite Landry's incompetence on deep throws.

1:24 mark
1:35 mark
2:49 mark
3:08 mark
3:43 mark
6:54 mark
9:53 mark

From the films I looked at, on deep routes Stills was usually a good four or five yards ahead of the defender, but had to stop to wait on the ball.

I think Brees will have a field day blowing the tops off of defenses with this guy.

WRs are a dime a dozen.
