re: Why bring in a CJ Spiller to sit on the bench?

I was holding out hope that he would atleast turn into a decent corner by his 3rd year. I've never seen a draft class(besides the #1 pick) not even on the roster the next year. That is absurd. Thankfully we hired Ireland.

I'm not making excuses for anyone, but he was a project as he wasn't a DB but for what, 1 year? The 2nd year he wasn't a project he was a steaming pile of shite. But the project label was there for him at the draft so not sure what you're talking about. Either way, it goes to show how bad the FO has been at drafting. Think of all the players they could have taken, it makes me so frustrated.

I'm still trying to answer this question

4 mil for 4 touches a game. What's not to like?

It is pretty frustrating, especially with our lack of weapons

Like Brees, CSP trying to pad Ingram's stats.

Should have gave him the ball at that inch line
In all seriousness, ingram really has improved as a receiver. Still would be nice to see them on the field at the same time

My two cents.
He was coming back from injury so they wanted to bring him along slowly. He also missed some time with OTAs and training camp because of his injury. Therefore I think the plays the coaches are confident he can run are limited. (When he is in, you can typically tell what the play call will be.) He's not the primary running back and has had a propensity for injury, so I think the coaches also want to make sure Ingram is getting the bulk of the carries.

For 4 million a year, he should be able to make plays regardless.

This. Move him around, tailback, slot, put him in motion. Like they did with Bush and Deuce.

What did we have to lose by playing Spiller more in the game?
We used 22 plays handing the ball to a guy who gained 54 yards. (2.5 YPC)
We were gaining 14 yards per reception and really needed a RB who could 1) block for Brees; and 2) get open in the flat. Common sense would lead you to play Spiller but once again (for the 5th year in a row) we have to attempt to justify our bad decision to move up in the draft to take an average RB.
The fact is the Saints move the ball with more success when #22 in on the sideline. Changing his jersey number didn't change the results. (Although 22 or 2.2 is probably closer to his YPC average.) The first three drives were great. Then CSP reverted to his stubborn play calling decisions.
If your defense can't stop anything then you need to win solely on offense. Repeatedly wasting first down on 1-2 yard run won't cut it. Since this season is lost let's experiment. Let each RB play a full game (exclusively) while the other remains on the bench. I can guarantee which offense will be more successful.

4.2 ypc actually
Khiry - 3.2
Spiller - 3.9
It isn't one or the other. Ingram has turned himself into a prettt good back receiving wise too

Wait, now he's being called stubborn for running?
The next 2 drives were ended by the officials. Spiller was the only back who got a carry on the 1st of those 2 drives (3 yards). Next drive, Ingram ran for a 4 yard gain, and caught a 4 yard pass before being forced to punt due to a holding call. (Spiller was unable to convert the 3rd and 6 because he decided to cut back)

They aren't eliminated and are going to play to win every game. While it is likely lost, it isn't lost yet.

Your irrational Ingram hate is just pathetic. Dude is #8 in the league in yards and has a respectable 4.2 ypa which would be much better if the line hadn't played like dogshit the first 3 games. He's also a good receiving threat and is very solid in pass blocking. Ingram is without a doubt the best back on our team and is much better than a lot of this board gives home credit for.
ETA: And if CSP is so worried about padding Ingram's stats, why did he let Robinson score two short TDs. one of which when Ingram had a long run to get us inside the 2?
ETA: One more thing that you got completely wrong.
Ingram has 88 rush attempts on 1st down this season. Would you like to know the average of those rushes?
4.7 yards. So kindly stop talking out of your arse, realize someone from Alabama is actually a good player for us, and get over it. Your posts are not only unbearable, they're full of bullshite.

I don't think Spiller is that good.
He's a guy that can turn a reception or a run into a long gain...but he's going to do less with the ball than he should more often than not.
This was another misevaluation of his talent.

I wrote something similar a few weeks back and got mixed reviews. He and Browner are proving to be a huge waste of money.

But needed to be done sir!
Took MI awhile but he's learned how to run, block and catch in the pro's.
