the saints have 0 pass rushers, and this is the biggest problem with our defense

nolan and spags' defense rely heavily on pass rushers to work.

pass rushers and good coverage CBs are how great defenses are made

Good question. Anyone know which great Defensive players will be available in FA? Not that we're going to have much money to spend after we lock up Brees, Colston, and whoever else we need to keep

i think we have this pretty well done. porter is good but just cant tackle, greer is shut down at times, and p rob looks great. give robinson another season and he might start every game

Trade for Trindon Holiday, his speed coming off edge 30 sacks easy

i do think our secondary has potential and just needs a new scheme (and an actual pass rush)

Wish our front office could recognize one in the draft. There's been numerous elite DE/OLB types the past couple of years that we could have drafted or were absolutely within trade reach (especially if you think Ingram is worthy of a trade).

I hope Greg Romeus is able to step in and be a solid player next year and Jordan really seem to get better as the year went on.

Does anyone know if there were any elite rookie pass rushers this season that we passed on to get Cameron Jordan? I'm guessing there weren't many, but there probably are guys that are showing a ton of potential (maybe more than Cam, who came on towards the end)? Not that it matters, but it would go a long way towards proving whether or not our office can identify good DEs.

you have to target free agents that are solid but won't break the bank. young players looking to take that next step with a new coordinator to mold them and motivate them. maybe even highly rated cast off's from other teams that never lived up to the hype but could benefit from a change in scenery and scheme.

what we DON'T need are players like Will Herring. Signing players that are special team players only to become starters is a disaster.

mother fricking this!

its a huge long shot though. but what a steal in the draft he COULD turn out to be. very interested to hear about his progress during the off season

Your secondary's bestest friend is a good front four pass rush. GW's scheme relied too heavily on blitzes, and that's basically him working with what he is given. Still, his timeliness of those blitzes is really questionable.

that's a problem, b/c we didn't pick early enough to get an aldon smith or von miller

bowers or houston would have been the only ones, and they'd be reaches late in the 1st

i do think we were targeting hughes in 2010 and he got picked 1 pick ahead of where we did

Anyone else think a new D-line coach would help. Haven't heard it said much, but with the underachievement of the D-line the past few years I would be up for it.

i think we need more talent rushing the passer more than the coach itself. jordan and smith are bigger DEs who aren't THAT explosive. it will be interesting to see what happens

esp if we sign nolan, who is a 3-4 DC

The draft? Oh that's right we don't have a first round pick

Re: Ingram, There's plenty of value in the late 2nd, but obviously, you're probably not going to find a day 1 starter. Crap.
