re: What's being done to Stephone Anthony is a crime

I thought it was more of square peg, round hole.

Shouldn't we be happy the team is playing the best player available instead of showing undue deference towards first round draft picks?
If he can't beat out Mauti, then he shouldn't play.

You're absolutely right. If people want to be upset they should be upset that he's not better than Mauti.
But somehow in the opinion of the OP this is about Allen not wanting to play a Rob Ryan guy and that just seems ridiculous to me. Why would Allen have more loyalty to Mauti than Anthony?

He had a great season last yr? Yet they bring in an aging veteran to take over for him? Then he gets beat out by Mauti this yr. I think you need to take off your black and gold glasses and start to realize that Anthony is the problem and not living up to his potential. You don't think the coaches would love to insert him into the starting lineup? It's simple as to what's going on

Thinking this is the case is the worse crime of all.

Peat is looking good at LG Anthony was decent last year, we will see. Kikaha was good when healthy, we shall see next year. Grayson bust PJ Williams seems like a steal. Tull bust Davison is a steal. Swann jury is still out Murphy is still somewhat contributing. Pretty decent draft if you ask me.
these are all a matter of opinion and changing every day. All these players are inconsistent at best. 1 thing for sure, all lack star power.

Is Bobby smart enough to know the difference???

CSP said they needed a new signal caller at MLB in the off season.
Yesterday the Def gave up 9 points with 4 snaps to Anthony for the game . So maybe Bobby is smart enough

He had one of the best seasons last year for a linebacker since Vilma in '09, and as a rookie.
He had the best rookie year since Ricky Jackson.
But is anyone surprised anymore?
Joe Vitt is a barely functioning retard
He's the LB coach, senior defensive assistant, assistant head coach and veteran defensive leader and he benches the one prospect he's ever developed.
frick this coaching staff. I'm done with them. Offer Payton the job as offensive coordinator or he can go. He's been dogshit as a HC since 2012. Clean house on the coaching staff. Bring in a young hungry defensive minded HC.
With Brees we can get an adequate OC and be fine. Get a defensive minded guy and let's go get another championship.

Can't argue with the results yesterday.
This is the best linebacker group we've had in a while, and Ellerbe should be the best out of all of them if he ever plays

Sean Payton provides few details on Saints LB Stephone Anthony's minimal role
Via NOLA.com
quote:
Anthony played just four snaps in Sunday's loss to the New York Giants, and when asked to explain the linebacker's role, coach Sean Payton pointed to the Giants offense instead of the Saints' thoughts about Anthony.
"Yesterday was really more about a nickel package," Payton said on a teleconference Monday. "I want to say for 98 percent of the snaps they were in 11 personnel (three receivers, one tight end and one running back). We played a three-safety look to it; we played a true nickel look to it. And so, with less base, there were less opportunities for (Anthony) to be in."
quote:
In Week 1, Anthony played just 13 snaps as the Saints opted to have Michael Mauti (21 snaps) as the top option on the strong side. Mauti had just six snaps in Week 2 compared to Anthony's four as the Saints chose to combat the Giants' three wide receivers with a frequent use of three safety sets, having rookie Vonn Bell or veteran Roman Harper join starters Kenny Vaccaro and Jairus Byrd on the field.
Nickel cornerback De'Vante Harris, an undrafted rookie, also had a diminished role in Week 2, playing 38 percent of snaps compared to 82 percent in Week 1.
Of course, with the Saints holding the Giants without an offensive touchdown Sunday, it's hard to argue with defensive coordinator Dennis Allen's defensive game plan, even if Anthony's lack of snaps is surprising.
Asked what Anthony can do to gain a bigger role, Payton declined to provide any details.
"He's working at the Sam, and he dual trains at the Mike as well," he said.

It's pathetic no one can tell me Robertson is better than anthony. The whole franchise needs a reboot starting with the front office.
Posted on 9/19/16 at 2:39 pm to Madking
Craig Robertson is twice the player right now. It's not close.

Is this true? He had the 2nd worst grade out of all the 1st rd picks last season.
Maybe he just isnt as good as we thought? He played on a D at Clemson that was loaded.. maybe they hid some of his deficiencies

We had a horrible I think the worse YPC against us last year. He can't cover and he couldn't call the plays. I hope he continues to improve and they can work him in. But our LB'ers look better this year. I think the two DT's are helping with this as well.

Really like what Fairley and Davison have done. Wish we had locked up Fairley for longer, but I understand the risk.

Yeah, not sure how anyone can say Anthony has outplayed Robertson. Roberston is making plays
