We alredy lost head coach for a year. Maybe Brees too. Hebert held out for a year for more money. Is this a possibility ?

Drew is not that retarded. He knows this team is poised to make another run..possibly without the Head Coach. The team has too much potential for Drew to sit out a whole season.

When Hebert held out it was because our GM was a complete dumbass who was way to stubborn for anybody's good. Kind of a Bill Polian (only twice as bad) mindset.

When I think about how Finks fricked up what should have been the best 2 years in Saints history, I get so angry. And yet to this day he's hailed as some "great" GM.

Anyway, my point is that Loomis and Benson are both pragmatic and rational guys. They would never let this happen and Brees is honestly too good of a guy to pull that shite too. Plus it wouldn't make sense financially for ANYBODY. Plus if Brees didn't sign the franchise tender he'd still be in the exact same spot the very next year. Worst case for him is he plays a year under the franchise tag and then next year we'd HAVE to sign him to a huge long term deal b/c our leverage would be gone.

He will hold out before he does that.

I don't have a link, but he said that didn't work out too well in SD when he played under the tag. Nearly lost his career. Sounds to me like he ain't going through that again.

Drew will not play under the tag. He will sit based on experience in SD.

Having said that, there is zero chance the Saints will not sign him long term.

Saints FO will be committing franchise suicide for 5+ years if they do not sign him to a long-term contract before the deadline.

That being said, I don't think he will play under the tag, and I don't blame him (with his experiences). With the wrap that the Saints got this offseason, I look for non-existant bounty programs to be popping up anywhere we go to play. Brees will be worth some serious dough.

I don't think money is at issue at this point

No no. I'm not talking about money on his contract, saying the other teams that obviously have no bounties will have a nice-sized bounty on Drew. He would be foolish to play under a franchise tag for a team with targets on their backs.

I find it weird that opposing fans say, in the same breath, "Saints are thugs! Injuring players is wrong!" and "Watch out next year, we're going after Brees hard. "

0% eh? Y'all seem pretty confident about that. I wouldn't be.

It's on your FO to make it happen. He's only got like what - 3 weeks left and then I'd say it's about 90% certain he's going to sit out if no deal is in place by then.
