With AP fresh in our minds I thought I'd run with this.

While CSP has certainly hit some home runs via free agency (Brees, the rapist dude), he has more often than not shite the bed.

The biggest turd for me was Jarius Byrd. I thought the year the Saints brought him in they were going to make a run for the SB, but...

Who 'ya got?

Byrd was the worst all things considered. Browner was pretty awful. Does Gallette count? That contract was awful considering that he was immediately kicked off the team. Fairley contract is pretty bad, but that might be more of a hindsight thing. Just not sure how much blame I want to assign to that one. Was Brodrick Bunkley that bad of a signing? Not sure if I remember his tenure here that well. I remember he stayed on a books for a while after being released. Grubbs wasn't a total bust, but I remember him underperforming his contract. Also think he stayed on our books a little while after being released. Could be wrong on that one.

Hmm... I'm sure I'm forgetting some.

horrible signings:
Jason David
Jairus Byrd

Signings with bad luck:
Nick Fairley
Junior Galette (the extension was GREAT, the subsequent going off the walls was bad. The WORST was restructuring the contract to only cut him 2 months later. IIRC it added on 20mil of dead cap or something)

not that they were individually shitty but the 2011 FA's were a bust collectively.

Kruetz, Shaun Rogers, A. Franklin (from SF).

I kept thinking that Rogers and Franklin would make the difference we needed in the middle of the line but it never felt like they did. Or at the very least, I thought that one of those signings (Rogers,Franklin) would motivate Ellis but I think ole Sed Ellis stopped caring about football sometime after the 2010 season.

I woiluldnt call AP a FA disaster.

He is on the Cardinals salary cap now i believe and we got a free pick and depth for 1/4 of the season out of it.

Rogers and Franklin at least played all year. Kruetz was a washed up bum.

Byrd has to be at the top because of his contract.

You can make a case for Browner just because he stayed on the field and singlehandedly escorted offenses up and down the field. He firebombed any hope our defense had for being respectable.

What makes Byrd worst is 1. How much we paid him. 2. Letting Jenkins walk because we thought we were improving at that spot

I've gotta go with Byrd. The $$ we paid him for basically getting absolutely nothing out of him was only part of it. We let Jenkins walk after 2013 and I don't think it's a coincidence our defense did a nosedive after that. Its been 3 seasons heading into a 4th since he left were finally recovering from the big gaping whole in the secondary he left. Meanwhile he's tearing it up in Philly.

Brownet is probably second because he was not only bad and slow, he constantly killed games with huge PIs/holding.

Get a Snickers bar, sit down and for a few hours/days we'll go over his worst FA activity. Or get a pack of matches and we'll write ALL of his good FA decisions on the back.

I remember when they signed Browner I came here and asked why everyone thought signing the 30 something corner who'd played 8 games in 2 seasons was a good idea and got downvotes for days

Jason David used to the guy I loved to hate as far as FA signings, and then we signed Browner.
