I have been telling people the same things. I don't think we should sign Brees after the season. It is ti,e to start fresh and rebuild this O line. If it all means let Grayson play or get someone in the draft, then so be it, I love Brees and Payton but it's time to move on. Money can be better spent on more young players.

This team and its current direction is completely indefensible. Everything you said was spot-on.

If our current futility somehow overlapped with the ability to draft Deshaun? That's the kind of football situation the Gods never bless upon me.

Y'all should all hug and stare at your small penises. Only then would you realize that there is room for growth and improvement on this roster. The latter is a reflection of this thread.

You're one of those people that thinks Mickey Loomis runs our scouting department and then drafts all the players?

Who really knows how much Loomis has contributed to the cap and personnel problems this team has been dealing with? Sure, Loomis gets the blame for our poor drafts, unproductive free agents and has negotiated the contracts that have turned out to be disastrous but how much lead way did he have? My guess is that Payton makes all of the personnel decisions; he tells Loomis he wants a certain player and Loomis feels compelled to get that player at all cost.

I may be wrong but Payton is the de facto GM of this team...that's why he's still here.

You're not wrong. The Loomisblamers on this board are. Payton is Loomis. Loomis is Payton. Loomis is Payton?!

It's not looking good, man.

I hope they have a great season. If somehow they fix these problems and have a good year I'll be happy as hell. I just don't think it happens based on what I've seen

I'll enjoy the season because I love football, but the window has closed on this franchise under Payton.

In all fairness things were looking kind of gloomy when
this thread was started. However, what a friggin' turnaround.

I usually don't comment on these types of things but you are right in some things. I remember the 2009-2011 years when we'd play our preseason games. Our 2nd and 3rd units used to be really exciting to watch. That's the difference between the current teams and those teams. We were so much better 1-53 than a lot of teams in the league.

Here was my contribution to this thread. I wasn't wrong, but damn you have to give major credit to the coaching staff and FO this year. We've had our fair share of injuries and we've plugged guys in who have contributed big time. They've assembled some very good depth and the past few drafts have finally shown that.

Exactly, I would actually win a playoff game before I started throwing bad juju all over the place.

He wasn't wrong about everything. We did need a coaching shake up and some life in the locker room.
