So our turn around has acctually coincided with us playing more zone? Seems like a lot of armchair quarterbacks were swearing our early season ills were caused by us playing too much zone. Interesting tidbit.

I mean what did you expect? Not exactly uncommon for this board to know everything.

week 1: lots of zone and our DBs seemed lost

Wasn't just the DBs. The LBs, Anzalone and Klein particularly, blew a lot of coverage in the middle too.

And the crazy thing is we seemed to play even more zone coming out of half time.

coverage creates sacks

Yup. It works both ways. We were clearly lacking more talent in the secondary than up front.

Having a talent like Galette can go a long way, but guys like that (from a pass rush perspective) are hard to find. He was consistently held nearly every down but it was never called because he'd just bend and keep fighting through instead of flopping like most people do.

Now that the QBs don't have those quick throws open nearly every play we are getting more pressure/sacks. Having a legit shutdown corner like Lattimore transformed the whole defense.

Of late there has been a distinct lack of De’Vante Harris...

Only 7 snaps in game 3 and I don't think he's been seen since.

You have to also consider the emergence of Crawley in the spot of PJ/Harris. With Lattimore earning the respect of a shutdown corner, more action is going to go the other way. Thankfully, Crawley has been able to play solidly in a role that PJ and more so Harris were getting killed. Hopefully, Crawley's good play will continue because I have a feeling Lattimore will see fewer and fewer throws his way.

If things continue to improve, he continues...are you against giving it to him?

It cracks me up people are concerned about paying Vaccaro when we've given giant contracts to guys like Galette and Byrd. Vaccaro is very well liked and may be playing his best ball since his rookie year. I mean what are people afraid of with paying him? Williams and/or Bell won't be up for another 3-4 years for paydays.
