The Panthers will be rolling with one member of the Kalil family again this week. Center Ryan Kalil has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Saints after missing practice all week with a neck injury.

Kalil was a late scratch last week and coach Ron Rivera said that replacement Tyler Larsen should benefit from having extended time with the first team this week.

“The reps that he got, that’s always a good thing,” Rivera said, via the team’s website. “It helps him develop a comfort level with the quarterback, and the quarterback gets comfortable with him. It also helps the guards get used to hearing the line calls from him. That stuff is important.”

Linebacker Jeremy Cash has also been ruled out and quarterback Cam Newton is listed as questionable after a week of limited practices designed to rest his shoulder and ankle, but the team doesn’t seem to have any doubt that he’ll be in the lineup come Sunday.

The Panthers were without a key part Thursday, which could complicate their efforts to get their offense fixed.

Via Bill Voth of the team’s official website, center Ryan Kalil was held out for the second straight day because of a neck injury.

Kalil woke up with a stiff neck last Sunday, and was active but didn’t play. He’s coming back from offseason shoulder surgery, and was limited throughout training camp.

It’s possible that it’s no coincidence the Bills sacked Cam Newton six times, as their protection broke down across the line.

Tyler Larsen replaced the Pro Bowler in the starting lineup.

The Panthers did get Kelvin Benjamin back on the practice field after he missed Wednesday, and they’ll need him in the absence of tight end Greg Olsen for the next eight weeks.

We had better exploit the Panther's line issues this weekend.

He will come in and play great against us like Bradford and Geonk, then be out for several weeks. Just our type of luck.

Cam is going for 200-100 and 3 TD's this week even if he had 5 Erik flowers on his o line

I have a feeling this weekend will be Devin Funchess' coming out party.

Yep. We'll probably stick Lattimore on Kelvin Banjamin to hold him at bay. Career days for both Funchess & Christian McCaffrey out of the backfield/in the slot. It is nice to have Olsen out, though. He's the guy that always kills us.

We could have a chance if our defense can stop the run. Cam Newton isn't nearly as accurate as Brady or Bradford. Hopefully those 3rd & 7 plays go in our favor against the Panthers...that being said, Newton will probably just run for the 1st down.

When do the Saints ever capitalize and exploit an opponents injury on the offensive line? Never. Carolina's tackle will have the best game of his career. You can almost guarantee it.

Na. Probably a missed 71 yard FG(clangs off the post) with 2 seconds left.

Then Saints fans call for Will Lutz to be cut.
