picking Kendricks would make me happy.
and he isn't my first choice.
but this is just from some fan who is tired of the Saints not selecting a LB all that high anyway.
you skipped on Ogletree and maybe even on Shazier and some others I'm forgetting right now... but here is the thing.. pick a fricking a ILB.
try.

I like Kendricks a lot. Him and Dawson are my top 2 choices for the Saints. Would like either at 31. Would love em at 44. But there's no way Kendricks makes it to 44. Dawson might.

Nice. Hopefully he makes it to 31. Either Dawson or Anthony should make it to 44. Hopefully we don't have to settle for Perryman/Mckinney...their pass coverage needs a lot of work. I wouldn't complain about Perryman/Mckinney, but it doesn't solve our lack of pass coverage from the ILB position...it could actually make it worse.

Just because a guy visits doesn't mean the Saints have interest. Sometimes they want to get info about a guy especially if they know someone in the division has interest in them and they're selected. (Jameis Winston would be a good example)
Also, another thing look at Kyle Wilson for example. They wanted him over P-Rob and now he's on the team down the road because of the pre-draft evaluations.
Hau’oli Kikaha is a guy of high interest

In some cases that's right, in this case its not. We are looking for an ILB that will be there at 31 or 44. Kendricks may be there at 31 thus the reason he's brought in.

What are you trying to say here? They brought him in 5 years ago just in case he was available down the road? Ummmmm no! They brought him in back then because they had interest in him back then.

I think Perryman will be a very good linebacker. Kendrick also. There is a Harvard linebacker who is getting a push, name escapes me. Could be a 3-5 round pick. If Waynes is there at 13, I would take him. To me that's our biggest hole

Our defense has been missing a playmaking LB since Vilma and Fujita. Get a guy who can make plays there and your defense can transform overnight. I know it's not the exact same, but look at Keuchly and Carolina. He's set the tone for that entire franchise.

I just don't believe this. You only get so many visits, and only have so much time prior to the draft. I just can't imagine the FO spending time with a player that MAY be drafted by one of the 3 teams our of 31 in their division, that MAY become a starter one day. I just don't see what there is to learn from him running around in a shirt and shorts, compared to what you can find out by watching his tape. That just makes NO sense to me.
We've had dinner with Perryman, reportedly have been doing a lot of research on Stephone Anthony, and Vitt has worked out Dawson at TCU's pro day, so it's obvious that a ILB is a priority at #31/#44. There's interest there.

Or- Wilson got the vet minimum and Robinson for $3 million. But yeah, let's just draw the conclusion that the team wanted Wilson over Robinson. Wilson wasn't even signed until after Robinson signed with SD. That, combined with their salaries, tells me that they wanted Robinson over Wilson, but wasn't willing to match SD's offer.

Absolutely, I wouldn't mind picking up Kendricks or Stephone Anthony or Denzel Perryman @44 and then double dipping if a guy like Ben Heeney is still there with our second 3rd round pick

It's called picking his brain and finding an advantage on what other teams are telling him and having a report. It happens with a handful of players. I never said it was the case with this particular player.

I agree with this. But a franchise edge rusher can do the same thing. (J.J. Watt) We just need that one impact player at either ILB, OLB, or DE. I do think ILB is the most important of all of these though. They are usually the defensive QBs. Here's hoping for the next Vilma, Fujita, Mills!

Why would they care about what another team is telling him, or worried about building a report if they have no interest in him. Your original point was that they bring in players, even though they don't have interest in him. I'm not saying he's guaranteed to be drafted by the Saints because he visited with us, but I find it difficult to believe that they would ever bring in draft prospects that they have NO interest in, even for "scouting" purposes.

We didn't have a chance at drafting Shazier, since he was picked 15th and we started with pick 27 and moved up to 20. But I get what you're saying. The top 5 ILBs in this class are ranked very closely and all have a late 1st - early 3rd grade. Kendricks is the best ILB in the class, but Perryman, McKinney, Anthony, and Dawson are close behind. There's really no excuse for us not taking one in this class.
Bringing in Kendricks isn't a smoke screen...I think there's genuine interest.
I've said it before that we need to keep all of the early picks and go after the BPA at a need position. The fact that there are a number of holes of defense means there has to be some help at #13, 31, and 44.
With all of that said, watch them pick a WR, CB and kicker with the frist 3 picks!!

If you notice all the people they are bringing in are prospects for the 31 and 44 picks. They haven't really brought in anyone for the 13 pick. They must already have their mind set on a couple guys for that pick. Which means we may see them move up into the first 12 picks to get whomever they may be, if they think they will be gone at 13.

Brees can do more damage than any player in this draft if he has all day
That's plain common sense and you're 100% correct. Brees may have lost some power but he's still deadly accurate...when he has a little time.
If we plan on extending Brees (which, I believe, is a foregone conclusion), you have to do everything you can to limit the sacks and give him some time. He can't take the beating he has the last few years.

Considering we already have Jr. locked up as our edge guy and Cam as our DE and they both did have 12 sacks just a year ago, I think we need to focus on OLB
