Tyrann Mathieu is a horrible pick for The Saints at any round and a bad pick for any team in the NFL below the 5th round.
I don't like him as a pick for the saints because it would do him good to get out of Louisiana, but saying he would be a bad pick before the 5th is ignorant.
Lets say your a team in the 3rd like the packers, Seahawks, 49ers, Steelers. A team with a good D and already solid, proven CBs. And you want a defensive playmaker that can be your 3rd CB/ NB and can blitz, cover a slot, and help out on special teams. A guy that will be a good kick off coverage guy, gunner on punt team, and a good return guy. And a lot of teams want and look for a guy like this in the 3rd. Hell the saints took Johnny Patrick in the 3rd because of his gunner skills, and he just got cut. Tyrann is better than him.
Why wouldn't you take tyrann? Because he has off the field issues?? Do you know how many players in the NFL have off the field issues, especially when they are young and just getting started in the league? A lot. I'm not calling him a lock down CB that can guard the other teams #1WR, but he's a playmaker in the pass and run game, and on special teams. Good tackler that can get after the QB in blitzes and wreck havoc.
He won't make it past the 3rd.
