Strange has destroyed many men's careers.

Discuss.

Undeniably true that he's not as good of a coach as he once was.

Payton was always a questionable play-caller. Married or not. He tries to be too cute or do the one thing nobody expects just to say he did it. The one thing I have respected from him all along has been his balls and...shall we say..."overconfidence."

But tonight was different. I have never seen him coach scared. I have never seen him throw out the white flag when he had the ball and a chance to win the game.

That concerns me. Either he does not believe in this team or he does not believe in himself.

You must not have watched the patriots game in 2013 or the Cowboys game last year

Maybe Payton needs to turn over play-calling to a real offensive coordinator?

Doesn't help that his quarterback is worried more about his health 15 years down the road than winning the game today

So true. It really kind of unexplainable. He offers this team nothing if he can't call plays effectively. He needs to spend the next week thinking about that.

With that said, I think we beat Tampa handily.

False. Sean Payton was a better coach when he had a defense that put some pressure on the quarterback.
He will not look like a better coach until this young team matures. Face facts Arizona currently has a better team than we do.

i think they have a better coach than us right now. Bruce Arians is one of the top 3 in the league. People dont realize what hes won games with at QB.

He's been overhyped as a result of having one of the best QB in the history of the NFL. Oh and he is a terrible Talent evaluator

The Patriots game, the Saints were winning and they chose to punt the ball instead of getting the first down and stepping on their throats. But literally every coach but Belichick would have done that too.

In the Cowboys game, he was still trying to run ignorant fake punts in the 4th quarter.

This one was different:
1. When Strief got the holding call in the 2nd quarter at midfield, he coached the next three plays like there was no way in Hell they were getting the first down. I told the guy I was watching with that they should have just punted after the holding call.
2. When they kicked the two FGs in the 4th quarter, they had a chance to either take the lead or tie the game both times, and they ran two screen passes on 3rd down like they were content with the FGs even though we were still losing.
3. The much-discussed punt at the 2 minute warning.

The old Sean Payton would have done none of those three things.

He had to check down because our receivers blow and could not get open. He did take some hits, on one particular play he took a hit, threw a great pass only to see it dropped.

I am frustrated tonight, but I couldn't disagree more. The only elite skill position player Brees has ever had was Jimmy Graham. He's won championships and division titles and had record-breaking offenses with skill position guys like Mike Bell, Lance Moore and David Thomas.

He was a better coach when the Saints were a better overall team

Better talent: 2006 Saints or 2015 Saints?
