Tracy Porter arrested in BR for domestic violence

Police said the incident occurred Oct. 5. He was booked into jail and faces counts of battery of a dating partner. He also faces drug-related accusations.

I believe this was a change in the law to expand domestic abuse to cover relationships beyond spouse and family members. It was partly made in response to a certain state senator beating his girlfriend since the penalties weren’t as stiff since she was only a girlfriend.
It’s definitely going to take some time to get use to hearing the charge before the “partner” stops standing out.

Yeah. That is one of the most bizarre things I've seen in an article. Why was it even in the police report to even make it into the article?
