He was considered by most draftniks the top WR available after the draft, projected to be a 4th or 5th rounder. Fast. Not sure why Niners cut him already, which is a red flag, but I think the Saints should take a look. We're thin at WR, just a bunch of dudes after the top 3. He could develop into something on the practice squad.

If he was not good enough for the 49ers, do we really want him?

According to my source we are kicking the tires on Calvin Johnson. He may not have anything left in the tank but he's giving it a go and coming in for a workout tomorrow morning.

This is why the 49ers cut him

"In practice rep during rookie minicamp Friday, Cannon gained separation from his defender, made a catch in stride over the middle of the field, but didn’t finish running out the rep. New general manager John Lynch has stressed the importance of culture since getting hired over the winter."

If he does not pay attention to detail, then he won't last long on any team. Not finishing the rep appears to be a sign of laziness. Saints could ask him if he learned his lesson. If so, then they could consider him. He has some talent.

Sounds like Lynch wanted to make a statement to the team and future players with this one. Create a new culture. Seems like it came at the expense of this kid. But when you leave ok it. I love the move by GM John Lynch. He is a UDFA low chance of making team. You can get others WR if you need.

I am open for taking him in. Should have learned a lesson and put a fire under him. I would be pretty pretty pissed that happened to me.

I get what hes trying to do there, but cutting rookies instead of teaching them seems like a bad strategy

cutting an UDFA isnt going to send a message to the lockerroom.

i wanted him before he was cut after a week, now I'll pass.

I doubt very much that he was actually cut due to his performance on a single rep. It screams general attitude problem, they just used not finishing the rep as a better story for it

if Lynch is a nerd than Mickey Loomis must be the guy that is no longer fun to pick on anymore.
