2017

8. New Orleans Saints

Marlon Humphrey, CB, Alabama*

At 6-foot-1, 196 pounds, Humphrey has ideal size for the cornerback position. He has 27 games of experience against high-level competition in his career, racking up five interceptions and 12 pass breakups. The Saints need to continue to add pieces to their defense, particularly in the secondary.

7.) Carolina Panthers Leonard Fournette, RB, LSU* Fournette hasn't budged from the No. 1 spot in my prospect rankings all season. He is a rare talent for the position, the best college running back I've evaluated since Adrian Peterson in 2007. And though he has been hampered by an ankle injury all season, he has put up off-the-charts production when healthy. It would be great value for the Panthers if Fournette were to fall out of the top five.

If this happens I'm going to stop watching football.

Marlon Humphrey is certainly not worth a top ten selection. He's got great measuresbles but that's it.

We dont need a fricking corner either. Look how much better we look by just adding two studs in THE MIDDLE. Draft Barnett or Allen (he wont be there I know) and then try to get Beckwith/Cunningham late first/2nd.

Then guard.

Then cooks replacement

Frankly I'll be surprised if Humphrey is even a first rounder come draft day. Extremely overrated. Rather wait a year and get Fitzpatrick.

For where we're likely to end up drafting, Barnett is the guy I want the most that has a good chance of still being available.

The word around Tuscaloosa is that Humphrey is more than likely returning to school FWIW.

As a Saints fan I would hate this pick. He hasn't played very well this season. He has the potential to be great, but I wouldn't draft him at 8.

frick. That.

And if Fournette goes to the Panthers I'm going to light something on fire.

I don't want Reuben Foster, either. Dude is going to kill himself and get suspended for tackling like he does.

Barnett is definitely the 2nd best edge rusher in this draft class IMO so we really need some other guys to come up for us to get him depending where we fall. QBs, DTs, RBs.

Mocks have him going like 8-15 but once the evals get better he'll be higher

Barnett is just not an edge rusher. He is a monster when it comes to TFL & setting the edge against the run. He is the most complete end in this draft.

Fair enough. Edge defender.

But if what you're saying is true... It is likely he will not available for our pick unless we get some help from positions we don't need. Some QBs need to rise up, LF needs to go, Cam Robinson, etc

100% with you. Continue to build the front 7 and OL. Hell, just the additions of Robertson and Fairly have helped. I don't think a top flight pass-rusher will be available when the Saints pick, but I would imagine one of the top DTs, Guards, and/or ILBs will be available. The Saints can find more than serviceable corners past the first round.
