The worst part of this loss is that I have no idea how it happened.

We had a top 10 defense all throughout last year, we added arguably the best free safety in the league and stayed healthy for the most part. Sure, I could have seen us giving up over 300 yards to them, but over 500 yards?! Are you kidding me?! How does that even happen? Especially when the offensive tackles are Gabe Carimi and Lamar Holmes.

Matt Ryan played amazing, probably one of the best games of his career. I remember several plays where he got drilled but delivered a timely, on target pass. Also turnovers at key times by the Saints. It was a good game and I think it reflects more on how much the Falcons are improved this year, than how much the Saints regressed.

The thing here is: EVERYTHING we thought about Atlanta going into this game was true except 1 thing. They have potent pass-catchers, some bruising RBs, a porous D with a few talented DBs, and no pass rush. That's all right. What we DIDNT expect was their OL to play so well. The DL was consistently beat by their guys 1-on-1. None of us predicted that. If you told any Saints fan before this game that Jake Matthews would go out at halftime, they would say we'll have 6 sacks in the 2nd half. What happened? Did our DL just lose it's ferocity or did their OL really get tougher?

I don't get it at all, on that last TD Vacarro got punked out of his shorts. It's like every single thing went wrong on defense. And I'd like to say it's just a matter of tightening some things up but dude, when you give up 600 yards it's a pretty good indication that you are far from being a great defense.

This. Vaccaro reverted to his Longhorn days or something because I didn't see the same player from last year. Why is David Hawthorne covering Devin Hester? Why is Jairus Byrd 25 yards off the ball? Junior Gallette straight packed it in on a couple of plays and after all of his talk, that REALLY pissed me off.

our games have usually been pretty close with them in the recent years even though we've beat them a ton.

so its not totally shocking that they finally stole a close one from us.

it sucks.

but I was really disappointed in the defense. I'm not real sure what Vaccaro was doing out there today.

you could count one hand how many good plays the D made.

1)Byrd strips Julio
2)Tyrunn Walker got a QB sack.
3)PRob knocked away a deep ball to Harry Douglas
4)Keenan Lewis broke up a pass.
5)............

what else am I missing?

they just didn't make a lot of plays on defense.

He was deep the whole game.

That's not playing to his strengths.

there was also that play where Julio ran uncontested into the secondary and made a catch up to about their 30 yard line when they where starting inside their own 10 or 5 yard line late in the game.

flabbergasting.

It's like Ryan decided to go with the softest, most unimaginative defense he could think of.

It was pretty clear that no one could cover the middle of the field, but he wouldn't bring his safeties down.

Let's just say one thing it doesn't matter the defense gave up after the first half. What matters is colston screwed up and we kept them in the game by kicking field goals and not scoring. The offense put to much pressure on our defense like always. Morgan sucks and it shows Kenny stills better get healthy if not we need to trade for a true deep threat. Graham was nowhere in the end zone got paid got lazy.cooks great running game good kicker good everybody else didn't show up.I have faith we will get it together.

Sure let's just trade for a deep threat in week 2, I'm sure that's easy

When did I blame the coaches?

I mean obviously the blame goes to them for the game plan but also the players to execute said game plan.
