Well, it's not like the food in Dallas is any healthier.

The people judging the guy on his weight and sideline disposition are coming off as really stupid.

Talk about his past as a coordinator. Discuss his antics on the sideline and in the media. But his weight? Like that matters.

This. Cracking jokes and all is funny, but suggesting that he won't be a good coach because he's fat? Please...

For everyone lamenting the hire, I ask you, who would you have rathered that was available? Would you have kept Spags? Not much ground to base that argument on...

Yep. Didn't see that criticism of Crennel. He's a big fella also.

I'd like to point out two things:
1. Criticisms linking his weight and coaching performance are invalid.
2. The fact that those criticisms are invalid doesn't make other criticisms invalid.

I think we can all agree with that. It's the ones who are saying because he's fat he lacks discipline and thus so will the D. Makes me and

I don't get it.

I think it's the OT's influence.
Not much of substance over there.

Whenever there's a big move, ST gets flooded with non-regulars who come to troll and act out their schtick on here. Once they discover it doesn't work here, they tend to leave.

I know there's not a link between weight and coaching ability. Y'all know I know football better than that (Some of you do, anyhow).

I just don't like him and on top of that I find his appearance revolting. I know it will be different with SP at the helm... at least I HOPE it will - but the lack of discipline that Rex and Rob show in the media has always seemed to trickle down into the product on and off the field. Evidenced by Dallas unable to do much with the talent they have on D as well as the high incidence of Cowboy players getting into shite off the field. I correlate that lack of discipline with Rob Ryan looking like a disgusting gelatinous blob. Sorry.

Jeez, I'm trying to get a legitimate discussion about Ryan's on-field performance going...and the girl token is legitimizing the fat complaint.

Soon she'll regale us with tales about how she hooks up with chicks and dudes, and we can make this full OT

I only talk football here. Just like I only talk LSU on the Rant.

ETA:

Ryan's Browns/Cowboy defenses have ranked #17, #18 and #19 the past 3 years. There's a stat.

I think what most dislike is the appearance and personality of the guy. There's a ton of people who think Belichick is an a-hole to deal with as well. I've worked for and with plenty of pricks that were actually great at their job. I'll take them over the more likable incompetents I have dealt with.

If we can go from 32nd to 17-19th this year we'll be talking about how Brees will fare in the New Jersey blizzard Super Bowl next year.

This. And for any of you to not see this have no clue. This dude is a side show circus and players DO NOT RESPECT HIM. Same shite with his stupid fricking brother. Just look at how the jets imploded and tell me any different. Locker room disfunction, players publicly calling out team/coaches etc... Rex lost that lockeroom as a HEAD COACH. I fricking HATE the Ryans as do most of the NFL.

I'm not saying Sean won't keep his arse in check, but from a team perspective and what Payton has built here, Rob Ryan doesn't fit. I trust Payton but I really question this one. Only time will tell. Hopefully his scheme and defense will flourish, because I hate to see what happens if it doesn't and we have some serious adversity to deal with.

WDF I am not in the hate the pic crowd. After the DC pic of the century last year Im being much more circumspect.
We all know his record where he's been but I also look at those three orgs as complete jokes (Oak,Browns and Cowboys)
The one good org he was on was the Pats and as LB coach he got two rings.
I figure CSP had a season to think and talk will others including BP about the DC hire. He damn sure knows by now his weakness on hires on the def. side.
I just don't buy the thinking that this is another poor hire by CSP.
But on the fatty surface it sure can look like it.
