I'm getting annoyed by the bitch arse posts here regarding JG's contract. It's not as bad as during DB's contract or the idiots who blame every loss on that contract, but it's still fricking annoying.

See, I went out of my way not to call him sassy.

I didn't want Soph to be yet another statistic.

Not surprised. I was guessing that with how much Payton loves Thomas and Sproles that we'd try to sign them to cheap extensions to retain them instead of cutting or trading them. Payton's just loyal like that. Until you piss him off and then you're Mike Bell.

I would like to discuss this. And i hope to god he does not leave. PT has been the best back on the team since he got here and he still is. I'm not trying to derail your thread Soph.

This is exaclty what I've been saying. Giving JG the huge contract leaving us unable to sign Thomas or some new olineman or next year not being bale to resign Jordan would be horrible.

Well. from the article.

Pierre Thomas, Saints discuss future in New Orleans. Still millions away from an agreement with Jimmy Graham, the New Orleans Saints are diving into the couch cushions for loose change.

I'm honestly surprised that he's still with the team. Don't get me wrong, Pierre will always be one of my all-time favorite Saints but if I'm not mistaken, we'd save three million by cutting him.

The question is not how much we save but instead is he worth it.

Imo yes he is. He is vastly underrated, especially in the blocking and passing game. His running may be taking a slight hit but his other skills(at least the level he is on) is hard to come by.

Now if we can find a better deal out there for similar or better talent then sure cut him.

He's old. Cut him and let Khiry and Cadet take his roll. Save the money.

Are you being facetious?

I think there is value in both arguments. But he is still leading the team in running yards and the NFL in receptions.

But we can save cap room by cutting him and Khiry started coming on strong at the end of the season.

I do think PT still has a place on this team but I also think we need to begin moving in a younger direction at rb.

No.

PT did not have a good year. We have 2 good young RBs with Khiry and Cadet who wouldn't cost 1 million put together.

He's 30 yrs old man. It's the smart decision whether we want to see him gone or not. We have other talent that deserves a shot just like PT did in the beginning.

I don't understand some of your logic. Jimmy, who at least led the league in rec TDs, doesn't deserve a dollar over the 6.8 mil tag? But we need to keep paying a 30 yr old PT so we can watch him decline while we have other talent losing playing time?

Now you're overexaggerating. No one said he doesn't deserve a penny over 6.8mil. We don't think he deserves 12 mil, that's almost twice as much. Almost everyone on this board would be fine in making him the highest paid TE at 9.5-10mil/yr. 10 and 12 mil don't seem much, but that 2mil can be the difference between keeping and cutting a player (PT) in this case.

In the past two years have you seen Khiry or Cadet be able to pass protect or catch out of the backfield like PT when giving the chance? The answer is no. That's assuming and putting them into a position that you don't know will fit either. 70 catches a year is a BIG number to fill. If you said Ingram that'd be more feasible considering the fact that ingram did catch a decent amount in college.
