The reason we drafted M. Williams
Posted by TIGERSby10 on 4/29/17 at 1:59 am80
Turnovers.
He attacks the ball. With the signing of AD and drafting the OT at 32, this offense will score. Getting Drew an extra possession will be deadly, especially if we can run the clock out in the fourth quarter.

Yup. I was so freaking excited when I hear his name, this is the FS we've been trying to find since Sharper. I know I probably shouldn't get my hopes up this soon but I love the idea of Williams playing center field while Bell and Vaccaro attack the box.

And this is why we are 7-9 these idoits keep trying to chase the past. Smh Sharper is a top 3 all time FS you can't just make another Sharper. Get some fricking pass rushers dammit our guys are slow as shite

Getting turnovers is chasing the past? Opposite Cam Jordan, we have Alex Okafor, Hau'oli Kikaha, Trey Hendrickson now and a couple others. We're not sitting Cam so we have a log jam at the other end position and maybe they prefer what we have as opposed to adding another log. Meanwhile Vonn Bell was one of the best at defending the run and absolute worst in coverage. Now, with Marcus Williams, our 3 S look is complete and let's not forget that with Brees, we wanna get him the ball as often as possible. FINALLY, I can guarantee the days of Brees throwing 40+ times a game are going to be limited because we have a solid OL with not one, not two, but three RBs who can wear out defenses and kill the clock too.

The exact reason we were 7-9 Is because we don't have people that can create turnovers. Now we have two guys like that with Williams and Lattimore. If you take away a QBs options and force them to go through all progressions you create indecisiveness which will lead to coverage sacks.
My guess is too that they feel comfortable with the pressure that Cam, Fairly, and Rankins can generate. They all showed flashes of that last year. Problem was a lot of the time the ball was gone before they could make a play because our shite secondary had already blown their assignments.

My favorite pick we made.
Dude is going to be our Michael Thomas of the defense. Smart, athletic and a turnover machine in college. He checks all the boxes. His only knock was that he needs to add weight so he can become a harder hitter.

Preach. Just like 2014, we gave up way too many passes before the "3 second clock" ran out. Every team is going to struggle getting sacks when the ball is out quick.
They work hand in hand, and while yes we do need a top shelf rusher we do have guys who are good at it (hell Jordan is great at it; despite the lack of sacks his pressure numbers are VERY high; just needs a half second more to get home). We just need another half second to second to get home.
Losing Galette really hurt, but havingour secondary gutted through cuts and injuries hurt more. The one constant the last 3 years was a decimated secondary.

So what's our defensive starting lineup look like now? Im Guessing vacarro and bell rotate or will all 3 be on the field in some nickel package? And if so does vacarro cover or rather bell? I'm not really familiar with the 3-3-5 defense but one thing is for sure, a ball halking free safety is a must.

biggest fail post today? sheesh, I ain't even addressing it
If anyone was penciling in Bell to be the go to deep free safety I can only say I'm guessing you didn't watch every game. Big hole that Byrd was a big bust in. It still desperately needing filling.
I do like the Thomas analogy. It is not a stretch to imagine him having the biggest year of ANY safety drafted.
Watch some videos of the guy, ballhawk is the right word.

Yeah wrong post wrong reply I'm guessing. I neither said any of that nor did you address anything in my post

We'll play mostly big nickel (3 safeties) I'm guessing. Vaccaro playing the slot and box with Bell as a deeper SS and Williams as the deep safety.
CB will work itself out. I'm still concerned about not having a surefire one, but if any CB in the draft can be that it's Lattimore. Then you have Breaux, Williams, and Moore fighting for the other spot more than likely, with the losers fighting for nickel snap scraps.
LB will be very interesting. We paid Klein to start so I imagine at least to start he'll be Mike. Then Ellerbe, Robertson, and Analzone will fight for Will snaps, with the losers fighting for the few Sam snaps we give with Anthony. Not sure where Te'o fits but likely the backup Mike.
Jordan obvious starts. Rankins, Fairley, and Davison will rotate (thinking Rankins plays pure 3 tech and Davison pure nose with Fairley moving between both). The other DE spot will have Kik and Oak fighting for the start, with Hendrickson getting sub rush work to start. Onyemata comes in in big sets and subs Jordan the rare occasions he comes out, while also kicking inside at times.

I love our pieces on defense. With Lattimore and Breaux, we are gonna be able to stunt and blitz Vicarro, Analzone, Bell, Anthony, etc...from all over the field. I hope Allen is creatively aggressive.
And lets not forget that Rankins missed most of last year. Playing between Cam and Fairley is gonna help free him up some. You don't have to only get pressure from your DEs. The best pass rusher we've had since Jackson and Swilling was La'roi(?) Glover, a damn DT.
This defense is gonna create turnovers. Provided they stay healthy.

Fairley had 6.5 sacks in 16 games, which is pretty good from the DT spot. Rankins had 4 in 9 games. He is going to be a beast 3 tech. The interior push is going to help a ton.
Knock on wood we catch a break from injuries for once.

Oh so you can find guys who get 60 interceptions off the streets?
Look we know he's a rapist yadda yadda but he and Ed Reed are the best to ever do it. Your logic is quite frankly retarded. Darren Sharpers aren't falling from the sky
