Hearing Loomis talk he sounded like they didn't have the money yet for signings but had a 'plan in place' if I heard that right. Sounds like more cuts coming. I think we are re-structured out.

I have no worries about Loomis making cap room. He is one of the best at restructuring deals etc.. We just didn't have the offseason signings we were hoping for in the secondary.

Watching the highlights, I did notice a couple of things.

Change of direction. More than one, he came off of his guy to make a tackle on the receiver that burnt his teammate.

Proper form tackling. More so in the first highlight, but head up, hands coming from low to high with a wrap up and take down. Its refreshing to see.

Man coverage. He was in man coverage in most of those highlights.

Again, not my choice, but I'll defend it till I'm blue because he is a Saint.

Agreed. I know they are highlights, but he's a better tackler than a lot of NFL players. I don't think he's a ball hawk, but he looks like a great overall safety.

IMO, he reminds me a little bit of a smaller but faster Sammy Knight. I'd take that.

We upgraded at corner safety and lb so far. I'm cool with that

I prefer this pick to a corner like trufant because of his versatility. With so many nickel and dime defenses run now, all three safeties will see the field at the same time, with harper possibly coming off the edge.

I don't get it.
No you don't. He plays safety(usually at least 10 yards deep before the snap) and on these plays he was clearly coming from all the way across the field to make the tackle before the safety on that side even got there.

What these plays showed was his pursuit to the ball, speed, and hit power.

Buyer's market

pick your poison.

Vaccaro isn't just a one trick pony like Roman is.

After a night to think about it I love the pick. looks like he has a good head on his shoulders an could contribute immediatly. I'm excited. We desperately needed a safety and hopefully we have one locked down for a long time. WHO DAT!
