Sean Payton himself noted his accountability with fixing the defense starts with him.

Rob Ryan didn't get a fair shake with all the injuries.

Still in all, maybe Dennis Allen is an upgrade in Payton's eyes. He's got 6 games to figure that shite out.

could be wrong here but I thought I read some where that Jim Henderson's commentary at training talked in part about how the Saints weren't getting lined up correctly even back then.

so when you see they are still having substitution issues and are wasting timeouts on offense too cause they are late on something... just makes you wonder.

I get that you might have issues like that in training camp but if they are still occuring in Week 10 something is very wrong.

i'm actually apathetic about Sean Payton moving forward. Feels weird texting that out.

Thats not good.

it starts with loomis, who should be shitcanned at the end of the year but probably won't. hopefully ireland is being primed to slide into that role, an actual football guy, not a "guess how many beans in the jar" type

the defensive personnel by and large is chicken shite and you know what they say about chicken shite and chicken salad. rob ryan, buddy ryan, dennis allen... no one has a chance with that garbage.

I truly believe Mickey Loomis would have to burn down the Benson's house in order to get fired. His job security is Payton's x1000. He is managing both franchises basically for an old feeble owner who doesn't want to have to make changes at that level at this point in his life. That's my guess at the situation anyway, I really don't know.

We sucked on defense last year too.

I'll put not trying to field a defensive line this season on the front office.

I agree.

I really couldn't care less about loomis, but I'd rather bring in a new GM than promote Ireland. He appears to be good in his role

Some teams in the league can win only scoring 17-20 points. That is absolutely not possible with the Saints. And our standard has become if they don't score on every possession, it's a failure. They've played like crap a good bit this year, but we simply don't have the '11 offense anymore.

Maybe not, but it's been all downhill since that first season, and his MO has always been that, so there's really no optimism to be had. Plus CSP can spin it all he wants, but the constant arguments with RR on the sideline was never a good sign.

seems to be a group of loud-mouthed fans who now wanted Ryan to stay

I have not been on this board a lot the past 2 weeks because of traveling, but I have not seen anyone say this. It seems the consensus is that getting rid of Ryan will not solve the problem because we have a lot of the same assistants coaches that were here under Gibbs, Williams, Spags & now Ryan. Yet, we continue to replace the DC and see the same problems (especially the front 7).

Not that SP is above criticism but the RR knighting makes zero sense. You can say whatever you want about talent and injuries, but last years D looked decent on paper, was coming off a strong performance in 13, and had just added Byrd. That defense ended up stinking up the division, so what was his excuse then?
