During/right after the draft and considering how our pass rush looks now, yes.

So our pass rush(with a ton of young guys) looks rough for one game and we're already in doom and gloom mode?

During this draft cycle the sarcastic "because LSU" posts vastly outnumbered people asking for a player just because he went to LSU.

You don't think they brought that on themselves? Maybe some have learned to keep pro/college alligance separate.

Some I guess have missed the memo judging by this thread and a few others the past few days.

That's why you draft him late.

Would've been an awful move on his part.

So you're impressed he did that against a UDFA?

Considering he's an UDFA as well, yes I very much am.

I need to quit watching that clip, but I cant

The fact that you father didn't pull out makes me concerned about the leadership of your grandfather and your mother's poor life choices

So you'd be opposed to another young cheap talented guy right now?

You're proving my point. Collins would CLEARLY help us out right now but you're just chalking it up to LSU. Dismissing every player from LSU happens way more than random LSU fans show up to suggest we give a DJ Welter level player a shot.

His agent said he was never sitting out so awful move or not he was playing.

In your hypothetical they'd be FAs. Would the saints be a failure if they made a pitch and they went elsewhere?

Again teams can only do so much.

Would he? Yeah but he CHOSE to go elsewhere and some are acting like it's college football recruiting and the fence is down. They can't separate allegiances.

Why should a team/fans give presidence to a guy from an in state school? It doesn't work that way in the NFL and fans get agitated because a player from their school doesn't get drafted by that team.

Do fans of the cowboys/texans get that upset if they don't get a UT/A&M/Baylor guy? Do the browns/bengals get upset if no tOSU guy gets drafted? No not nearly as bad as this shite and some fans are tired.

Easy to say afterwords and you can't convince me a higher didn't send a memo to teams. LC did get railroaded and his agents did him no favors.

They planted the seed.

I would say, like I say with Collins, we should've drafted him late so we wouldn't have to worry about his choice.

Would he?

Yes. And if not now at least in the future, Jahri is definitely on his last legs.

No, people are saying we need Collins because Lelito is a question mark and Jahri is on his back every other play.

Who is arguing for that? Anybody saying we should've added Danielle Hunter over Kikaha? Jalen Collins instead of PJ Williams? Terrance Magee over Murphy?

I'm positive they do because that happens everywhere and some fans are tired of the constant bitching in the other direction.

Just like there's nothing to say they did.

No doubt I'd love to have Collins, but we don't. This has been discussed so many times on here. It just needs to be left alone.

I can promise unless it's a Saints/cowboys game I won't start a Collins thread.

His agent wouldn't have allowed it. The "we never would've went through with it" BS was after the fact. Why would they plant that seed in the first place?

I don't blame the saints for being gunshy.

I'd be shocked if we didn't pick up a guard somehow in any case.

I actually think Unger/Strief/Armstead can make any decent guard look good.

It's a reference to the continued spillover from the rant over the years about players. Posters on the rant(and this board) mocked the saints for not going after LSU players. My question is why should the saints give a shite where a guy is from? Why is it so important to them that the saints have LSU players?

Fans care way too much about trivial things.

Threads like this(and the 3000 others about LC) are what cause it. They're causing the problem for themselves. The horse is 6 feet under,it's time to let it go.

quote:

Just like there's nothing to say they did.

We've seen first hand what they're capable of. Don't you find it suspicious that none of the 32 teams didn't draft him?

I just think y'all need to let this die and focus on other more relevant things.

Yeah because it worked so why keep up the charade.
quote:

“We can put it on the record now: We were never going back in the draft,” Smith says of waiting for the 2016 draft. “If someone had drafted him, we would’ve had a long, long discussion about it, but at the end of the day you can’t go back in the draft. He could get injured, gain weight, or 10 great tackles could come out. Too many risks.”

quote:

Why would they plant that seed in the first place?

So he could get his pick of team and a year shorter contract.
quote:

Don't you find it suspicious that none of the 32 teams didn't draft him?

Of course it is but that doesn't make it true or mean you can't call their bluff as well. If he gets picked in the 7th rd and the legal situation plays out the exact same won't/can't do anything.

The Saints fricked up plain and simple. From the FO to the coach, they really make some dumb arse decisions sometimes. Winning the last game of the season and letting Collins go undrafted are 2 huge blunders. I don't see how anyone can say otherwise

BUT, I agree it is done so let it go as nothing we say will change what's already happened.

Winning the last game of the season

As a former player, you have no idea how disgusting it is to ask another player to tank a game. It's bad enough to hold out your key players when you lock up a seed in the playoffs, it's a completely different thing to ask a team to tank for a better draft pick next year (especially when a solid percentage of them won't even be on the same team with that 'better' draft pick anyway). The race to the bottom is completely opposite from what the game of football is.

quote:

letting Collins go undrafted

When a player's agent is saying he would wait out a year and re-enter the draft the following year you are risking a waste of a draft pick. Considering what those additional picks cost us this year with the trades, I don't blame them. Flip this situation around, say his LC and his agent did decide to stay true to what they were saying and he did waste a Saints' pick; you'd hear nothing but complaints about how terrible the FO is and how they always take stupid risks in the draft.

Get over it, the FO had one of the safest drafts I've seen in the Sean Payton era and for once I am glad they targeted players that shore up the future of the team at positions that were traditionally ignored. You also have some quality players that will make an immediate impact and will grow with the team.

I've been giving this a lot of thought, and I actually think the Saints should have drafted Collins.

What are the ramifications? Can we field a team? When the players look at Marcus Murphy, do they just see Collins and his hooker that went that extra mile?

He's very stupid but the CBA ain't going to save him if Collins' lawyer finds out. His media toadies won't save him once the headline "League conspired to depress a players draft stock" comes out.

No the stupid runs deep with the Saints FO! Yeah, it's been brought up enough on here I'm sure, but to get so pussified about it is typical of this place. And it shows how right people are about the frick up or else you tenders wouldn't be cryin so damn much.
