I think what we are missing is how truly crazy the 4th quarter was. We had NO business being in that game, but how often do you see a trailing team strip sack a QB with a lead with less than 7 minutes left, proceed to miss a FG, force another fumble, score a TD and miss an extra point, hold the other team to a FG and lose at the last second?

Real NFL teams find ways to win games where the other team is literally handing them the ball and asking for them to beat them.

The timeout call at the 1 was pathetic. Either challenge it, or go no huddle.

We let 40 seconds run off the clock, then lost another 40 by taking the timeout

Payton isn't taking nearly enough crap for wasting his first timeout to draw up a FB dive and then for sitting on his last two instead of calling them at 2:40

We're an awful team with no leaders and CFL talent.

It was a comedy of errors on both sides all game.

Although got to shout to Kikaha who had his second strip fumble in as many games. He and Anthony also are making plays.

It just proves that the Saints were the worst of two bad football teams. Not impressed with Winston at all, BTW.

This linebacker group has me excited. They're are young and making plays. We just need the D line to step up and get a few more sacks. The D is young and they are learning still. The goaline stand was an awesome thing to see, and that shows progress. Give it some time guys, we are a young team. It will improve once the secondary starters return. Offense needs to start gelling though.

Circus music should have been playing throughout the entire 4th quarter.

Honestly, what should he have done when Brees was struggling to complete any passes more than 10 yards down the field? Don't give me that crap about putting in McCown either because he is not a better option than an injured Brees from a mental standpoint. Plus he isn't as nearly as mobile & would have been a sitting duck behind that line yesterday.

I could not believe we wasted that TO on the dive. Part of that is on Drew too. I could not believe he went to the sidelines. What the hell is that speaker in the helmet for and aren't you veteran enough that you could call that play without getting Payton to bless it?

I've been saying that about Brees since 2010... He's a Super Bowl winning quarterback - I don't understand why he can't call a basic play when something goes wrong with the headset

What does that have to do with throwing away time and a timeout?

I wasn't referring to the timeout. My post was concerning the bitching about the play call.

He wasnt bitching about the playcalling. He was bitching about needing to take a timeout just to run a fb dive at the GL.

It scored a td

If I remember right, the play call was late getting in because Payton was looking at the replay & asking for help upstairs to see if Ingram had gotten in on the play before. The play clock was running down & they had to call a timeout. Yeah it was fricked up but what were the other options? Should Payton have not even checked to see Ingram got in on the play before?

Which is why the HC position and the play caller should be 2 separate people. The HC has too many things they have to concern themselves with in a game. At the very least, he should have called the play in and told Brees to work the clock so they can have time to review the previous play.

Worst part was they waited 30+ seconds to call the TO. At that point, why not just let the 40 second clock run out?
