well I get that they were only "required" to offer a minimum tender, but my point was he sure as hell earned the right to be treated better then saying we are taking advantage of you because we can, and wait till next year to get paid "only because we have to" then we might pay you for the skill and contributions you have shown on the field.

its just like the strief situation, both are playing better then they are getting paid to, but strief gets paid yet they tell snead

They don't have to pay him next year either. But they own his rights for two years for cheap and they are going to use the rules to their benefit like every team does.

I don't recall an ERFA ever getting a big payday with any team. They always wait for them to become RFAs before extending/trading them (like the Pats tried to do with Butler).

And don't people complain enoguh because we pay too many of our own players. Now people are going to complain because we aren't going to pay a player a year before we need too?

Snead will get his payday, next year. He will be rewarded. For people to complain because they aren't paying him early is silly. It'll be worked out.

happens all the time, usually after the 3rd year of the year they're RFA and not ERFA, you see teams give them a deal.

it's a nice rah rah to reward a young player now, but at the same time its equivalent to a 5th year option for a 1st rounder. While you could very well give them the contract then, that one year is a "freebie" year for you.

Strief is yet to be seen, like most here think its a goodwill gesture from the organization for all the unnecessary pay cuts he took and ultimately retirement
