Here's another time I was out of line
the last time I posted there was in an effort to recruit Boopa to post here

It's a different site with a different audience. I enjoy both boards, but I mainly post here, and read/moderate there.
I am not much of a moderator though. I have banned 1 person in 8 years and have handed out a handful of warnings, and even less infractions. I tend to just fix the problem and send out a message explaining why I fixed it. Each person does it differently.
diat, you are missed. I used to enjoy shooting the shite with you and a few others that have since moved on.

I got a lot of infractions over there but nothing will ever compare to the PM that LA sent me the last time he banned me.

I think there is more freedom here, and with that more is expected from the user. SR is designed to be a family oriented board, and the moderation is treated as such. If you are a dick here, I would expect that the moderation is pretty matter of fact.

The last sentence is why you got popped. Also you have to give context. Was it a debate on the politics board? Did you harp on liberals? All of these things come into play.
For just that, there is no way you were banned. Give me your screen name and I will tell you exactly why you were banned.
When someone is banned, it is usually discussed and it's usually for repeat behavior.

that didn't get him banned. I don't know why he got banned, but if he gives me his user name I will tell you exactly why he got banned (with his permission to publish here, of course).
Usually bans at SR are an amalgam of things that add up to being banned. The infraction system is even set up as such. You get an infraction for things and those infractions equal pts. when you accumulate enough pts, a ban is issued. The worse the infraction, the higher pt total.
Almost all bannings are discussed. I rarely take part in these discussions because I usually do not know enough to provide much input.
As for moderation, it depends on the moderator. If I see someone using veiled profanity I simply edit it and send them a note. If I see the same guy doing it again, I usually do the same thing, but my note is like, "dude, you can't do that and I already told you about it." If he does it again, I usually issue a warning or an infraction.
Some guys handle things differently. Ultimately the site is ran how Andrus wants it ran. It's his site, and I do not mind helping him out a bit. There is a 0 tolerance on the SSF, and to some degree the EE. Political discussions are frowned upon anywhere except the Politics board. BTL and smack talk is like OT lite.

I'd prefer to just drop it. My banned camp is over in a couple weeks and I really respect and admire several posters there and don't want to get permanently banned.
Lets just say several posters there get away with murder with insults and jabs on all the boards.
Others, not so much, hence the hypocrite remark.

If you see someone doing something shitty, report it. Those reports go to a board for every moderator to see. I will make it a point to peruse that board and I will moderate if there is something there.
I can't speak for everyone, but I am fair and lenient. I prefer to treat little issues as such and save myself from them becoming bigger issues.
