Phone won't let me pick the single article but the one I'm talking about should be clear.

quote:

“We’ll see,” Payton said.

But Payton did stress that he is not worried about Spiller needing time to get up to speed since Spiller got so much work during OTAs, minicamp and training camp before he had arthroscopic knee surgery last month.

“He’s up to speed,” Payton said. “Listen, he’s doing good.”

quote:

“I think he provides great speed on the outside,” Payton said of Morgan. “And that’s something that from a game-plan standpoint, if you’re just running Cooks vertical, then at some point he gets tired. So I think having Joe, there’s another element of speed, he’s a very physical player, takes pride in blocking. So he’ll have a role in this game. He’ll play in this game.”

If this means that Sean Payton finally understands that Joe Morgan is the new Devery Henderson, then I'm okay with that. I don't think Morgan will be as productive as Devery, but he can at least stretch the defense.

Is Morgan still really fast?

I haven't seen much lately.

would be thrilled if Joe could equal his lifetime NFL stats this season...

14 catches, 33.6ypc, 3 TDs

I doubt Morgan has slowed down since the Ravens game last season.

He can snort a 3 inch line of coke in under 1.3 seconds. That's pretty darn quick.

Yes. He showed that last year and again in preseason.

I would like to see both of them on the field at the same time . If Morgan can make some plays it could free up Cooks . He's going to get double covered all year if we don't find another threat.

Yeah Morgan should be the number three receiver most of the time. Snead should rotate with him. Coleman should be rotating with Colston (with Snead rotating in at times when we want to run more quick stuff). Cooks should stay on the field.

Kind of surprising that it took an actual game for Payton to realize that only having one deep threat on your roster makes it incredibly easy to defend the deep ball.

That was my main reason for expecting Joe to stay (and knew he'd be back at some point if Payton wasn't being stubborn). It really may have cost us that game with how many shots we looked for and how Peterson Peterson harassing Cooks.

I believe Morgan is a vested veteran this year. The main reason he was off the roster in week 1 is probably because they did not want his salary guaranteed since he's kind of an idiot.

I won't go as far to say that him not being on the roster cost us the game, however it definitely limited what we could do offensively. So if keeping him off the roster to not guarantee his salary, which I can't imagine was much more than the vet minimum, then that probably wasn't the smartest decision.

It was vet minimum, which for cap purposes was about half a mil and for actual money purposes was barely more than that.
